Making dinner from scratch every night is hard. On top of housework, laundry, appointments, driving the kids around, and working, it can be hard to imagine cooking dinner every night of the week. This is why freezer cooking is such a wonderful alternative.
I have been freezer cooking for several years and have found so much value in it. Especially since I have little ones, it’s nice to just pull dinner out of the freezer and it’s good to go. I know some of my readers can benefit from freezer cooking as well! Matter-of-fact. I’m obsessed with freezer cooking and think you will be too!
Here are 10 reasons you should start freezer cooking for your family.
1.It saves time.
Freezer cooking saves time because you cook in bulk, and freeze meats, and sauces for different meals, later on. When you have prepared freezer meals, or startups to a meal, all you have to do is thaw, and cook in the oven. It really does save time on a day to day basis.
2. It’s cost effective.
Buying meals out, because you didn’t plan ahead, can begin to get very expensive. Planning ahead, buying food at the grocery store and preparing freezer meals saves a lot of money over a year.
3. Your family will be eating healthier.
Eating meals that you prepare with better ingredients will mean your family is eating healthier. When you don’t know what to make, and you buy fast food, you are really not feeding your family healthy food. Buying meals out, once-in-a-while is fine, but it is not a good habit to partake in every night.
4. It’s easier than cooking from scratch every night.
Cooking from scratch every night is much more time consuming and difficult. You have to thaw the meat and it takes longer to cook. On the other hand, if you have prepared freezer meals it doesn’t take a lot of time or effort to take out of the freezer and cook in the oven.
5. It fits into a busy schedule.
If you prepare everything for the week on one day, when you have a little extra time, it is really easy the rest of the week to fit into your busy schedule. You don’t have to worry about what you are going to cook, take out, thaw, and make all the different parts of the meal. Some people find it easier to prepare a week’s worth, on one day, like a weekend day. Otherwise, you can plan what you want to cook a few days out of the week, but just cook double the amount, and freeze the extra portion.
6. It’s worth the effort.
It takes effort, especially in the beginning to learn to cook this way, but it is well worth the effort. You will feel better that you are feeding your family healthier, better quality food. Your family will appreciate the effort and enjoy family meals together.
7. A little can go a long way.
When you cook in bulk, you’ll be surprised how much farther the food will go in separate meals. Plus, you will waste less food because you won’t have as many leftovers, which sometimes gets overlooked by picky eaters.
8. It is fun to try cooking new recipes.
If you look up freezer meal recipes, you will find tons of recipes, you may have never thought of making. You can experiment with new recipes, and just adjust accordingly for your family.
9. Your family can try eating different foods.
It’s important to try different foods with your family, so they don’t get into a rut of only eating specific foods. Kids tend to go through picky times in their lives, but if you insist they, at least, try the new foods, they might be surprised that they actually like it.
10. Everyone can help prepare the meals for the week.
Getting everyone involved, helping to prepare the meals, and is great for teaching your kids how to cook. It helps to build teamwork, and may encourage your kids to be willing to try different foods.
Making freezer meals takes a little planning and effort, but is so worth it for your family’s health and financial wellbeing. It saves time, is cost effective, easier, healthier and fun. It is a great way to get the whole family involved in cooking, and spending quality time together. Are you obsessed with freezer cooking?
