Review-and-Giveaway

October was SIDS Awareness Month, and even though October (And Most of November) Has come and gone it’s never too late to talk about the best way for your baby to sleep. Halo Sleep Sack has a great list of Safety Sleeping Tips for Babies to help avoid SIDS. You can Check them out Here!

Halo Sleep Sacks

Halo Sleep Sacks provide a great alternative to blankets, especially for the active sleepers who tend to come uncovered in the middle of the night. Recently Halo sent me one of their Early Walker Sleep Sacks for my Son to try. At first I was really worried that he might not like it, but I knew that Winter was coming and that he often comes uncovered when sleeping, so I was looking for an option to keep him warm over the next few months. Here are a few of my thoughts on this product:

  • Contrary to what I first thought, My Son actually loves this product and asks to wear his blanket every night before bed. In fact one night it was being washed and he was really upset that he couldn’t wear it. He also sometimes asks to keep it on in the mornings while he drinks his milk.
  • I love that it stays on all night and I don’t have to worry if it’s cold outside. Plus there is plenty of room for his pajama’s so I’ve been dressing him like normal and then using the Sleep Sack in place of a blanket.
  • The Zipper on the front of the sleep sack zips from the top to the bottom so my Son can’t get out of it on his own.

Really, the only thing I thought you might want to know about this product is that the sizing might be a little big. My Son fits exactly into the sizing for the XL Walking Sleep Sack, but it’s a little long for him and there is plenty of room. I’m thinking he will be able to wear it for at least a year, which is great because then I don’t have to find a new solution next fall.

If you are looking for more information on Halo Sleep Sacks you can check out the Halo Website. You can also Become a Fan of Halo Sleep Sacks, or follow them on Twitter.

My Honest and Humble Opinion: I can’t wait for you to try this product. I think you will be surprised at just how much you love it! I thought it was a great idea, and loved the concept, but I don’t know if I will ever get my Son to sleep without one now. I never dreamed that he would love it so much, and you guys know I don’t say that about every product. I am already registering for the Original Sleep Sack for my little girl, I can’t wait to try that one out too!

I left a longer message but it did not appear… anyway, short version now!
“Place your baby to sleep on his or her back at naptime and night time”

I hope I win!!

“Place your baby to sleep on his or her back at naptime and night time”. This is THE most important thing, IMO; the rest are complementary to this one. At the same time, tummy time is very important during the day to avoid the head to get flat (my son had to wear a corrective helmet for 2 months because of this condition, called plagiocephalea)
I hope I win!!

I think the most important is to replace those blankets with the sleep sack. When my little girl was first born, I was so paranoid about the blanket coming up over her mouth…this would have been a wonderful alternative. I still put a blanket around her at night, but low and tight so I am not as afraid, but this would be excellent and give me peace of mind.

Love your website..I check it every night for great coupon ideas!!
I cant pick just one safety tip that is the “most” important. Several are just important to practice as the next one. The halo sacks truly do give you peace of mind when putting your child to sleep knowing he will be cozy and breathing easy!

Use a SleepSack™ wearable blanket to replace loose blankets in your baby’s crib

I am so thankful to my sister-in-law for introducing us to sleep sacks.

I think this is the most important sleep tip: DO NOT put your baby to sleep on any soft surface (sofas, chairs, water beds, quilts, sheep skins, etc.)

I think the most important sleep safety tip would have to be DO NOT let ANYONE smoke around your child.

The most important to me is DO NOT let anyone smoke around your baby or be in a room where someone has recently smoked

Removing loose blankets for us. My little guy HAD to be swaddled to sleep and I always worried about getting caught in the blanket because he is such a crazy sleeper!

Removing baby bumpers surprised me since every bed you see advertised or a bedding set always comes with them.

Don’t put your baby on soft surfaces, like a waterbed, to sleep. This seems counter-intuitive, but it makes sense!

*Remove all soft bedding and toys from your baby’s sleep area (this includes loose blankets, bumpers and positioners)

And it saves a lot of money on the cutesy stuff that you don’t really need!

It was very hard for me to remove the custom bumpers from my baby’s crib, but did after finding him one night face smashed into them. This is an important, if not attractive, tip.
