You could also use the 8/$1 bags if you wanted to use even more register rewards. That could potentially reduce your out of pocket a whole lot depending on what denomination of register rewards you have. I have 10 $1 ones burning a hole in my pocket…I don’t even use or need this stuff and am considering buying and donating it just to get the higher value register rewards. That would buy a lot of diapers matched with a good sale!

My walgreens said that the 5 holiday dollars still counts as a register reward and therefore still cannot exceed the number of items purchased, even though it says “walgreens dollars” on it. I was wondering if you could let me know where you got the info on this promotion. Thanks for all your scenarios, they are very helpful.

That’s just been my personal experience with them a few weeks ago. Every store will be YMMV on this situation.

I would plan a filler for it, but I haven’t ever needed one before.

I was just at Walgreens and they told me the $5 coupon would only print if you spend $25 after coupons and I didn’t get one when my total was $15.05 after coupons but $27 before so I am not sure your scenarios will work?

the ad says 4 can for $14. I was sad when I realized this after I got to the store. Not as good of a deal as you have posted here. Did I miss something?

No, just the ad that I use online before the sale starts is sometimes different prices than our local prices. Thanks for letting me know I will try to update it tonight.

Sorry it wasn’t the same.

Thanks so much for the match-ups. I love your blog, it is a such a big help! I have a question about Walgreens, if you don’t mind me asking. I have read up on this but am still confused on one thing b/c of something the cashier at Walgreens told me. He told me that if I buy a product that would give me $2 RR but use $2 RR (from a previous transaction for a totally different product) I would not receive the new $2 RR. I was under the impression before that I could use the same dollar amount RR on a purchase and still get the RR’s IF it is not from the same product/manufacturer. Is this the case? I am trying to spend as little OOP as possible. Thanks so much for your help!

Yes, My experience is you can use the $2 RR as long as it’s not the same manufacturer. Just be careful that if you are buying a $1.99 item with a $2 RR you need a filler.
