The Wi-Fire is a simple well-designed device that gives you better wi-fi reception and speed regardless of how far away you are to a hotspot or access point.

Setup is required, it was not difficult, but as a warning always make sure you install the software before connecting the USB going to the Wi-Fire to your computer.  The software makes it easy to see all the networks that are around you, and if they are secured or not.  I had my brother help me test out the Wi-Fire so that I could help you understand how it works. Here’s what he had to say:

“Sitting here I normally receive three wi-fi networks, but with the Wi-Fire you can see that I was receiving 13 networks.  I was very impressed that I was able to pick up a Hotel’s signal that has to be at least 1,000 ft away; it might even be a little farther.  Wi-Fire says they work up to 1,000 ft, and they know what they are talking about, I just did it.

500This would be a perfect solution for people who need Internet connectivity in an area where your range causes you to suffer reduced speeds or even worse, no connectivity at all.  I can think of so many times where this solution would have been so much better then pulling network cable to a far off location because you were to far from the hotspot to get any wi-fi signal.  With the Wi-Fire you just install the software, set it up the antenna using the universal mounting adapter on the top of your monitor, and point the Wi-Fire it in the general direction of the wi-fi hotspot.

Now you can use the software to pick the network you would like and you will even see a detailed status of the quality and strength of your signal.  Overall if you need Internet connectivity in any location, which is far from a wi-fi hotspot, the Wi-Fire is for you.”

The Wi-Fire retails for $49 and would make a great gift for Dads who are traveling frequently and are always looking to connect their laptops to a hotspot.
