I noticed the same thing at our Walgreens. We went to 4 this past Sunday and they were ALL sold out. I think they do not keep enough stock so they do not have to honor the deal that we would be getting. I think shows like the extreme couponing will make stores change their policies so people cant hoard like crazy though. Our local Publix just came out with a policy that has a 6 item max! Which makes it a little difficult when you are trying to stock a pantry for 6 kids…

I would just like for you to know that on Sunday afternoon I decided to go to my favorite Walgreens in town to get my weekly deals. When i had completed my shopping (which only contained a few items since they were out of almost everything) the cashier pointed to a sign that “came from corporate” that customers can only have ONE RR transaction per household per day. I was wondering if you can contact Walgreens corporate and ask if this is correct? If this is correct then it will prevent rolling transactions with the RR deals. Has anyone else had this problem???

@ shellie I would suggest calling corporate and letting them know that employees are getting first dibs on the sale items and because of this there are never any of the products on the shelves. I used to work for retail and employees were NOT allowed to hold any items, sale or not, or shop on the clock because it is considered the same thing. Customers always had first dibs and it we were caught holding anything we automatically were written up. I beleive that is only fair. If the employees are going to get first dibs then they should order more of the items so not to interupt the customers shopping. I have the same problem at my local walgreens a lot. I have found one particular walgreens that doesnt lable a lot of their sale items for some reason and so most customers don’t realize they are on sale. I know because I plan my shopping out from the ads. I almost never have a problem finding things at this store because of this.

I just wanted to let you know that when me and my mom went to walgreens and they were out of the sale items I was able to get a raincheck. I don’t know if that helps, but they will give you one if they are out of the product, well at least my walgreens will.

Question: Are you able to use a manufactured coupon and a coupon from the Walgreens booklet together? I thought I could but I tried it today with the Off Clip on and the cashier told me the Walgreens booklet coupon was considered a Manufactured coupon.

You can definitely use those 2 together. If you ever run into a problem like that you should always ask to speak with a manager. Store coupons can be stacked with Manufacturer coupons (tip: a manufacturer coupon barcode usually starts with a #5) If they still give you problems you can bring in a copy of Walgreens coupon policy OR maybe it is time to find another Walgreens :) hope this helped!

Do you guys split up your transactions at Walgreens to use your RR while your there or do you just pay for everything out of pocket and then use the rewards later? What is your opinion on what is the best route to take?

I’m probably somewhere in between. Each week I roll the RR’s from last week so that helps keep my out of pocket low but I’m also able to buy multiple items in a transaction *(Different items of course)

Shelli:
My Walgreens let me last week buy 2 things that they were out of stock that had RR. I paid for them like I was buying them and got my RR. They told me to come in next week after Wednesday when the truck comes in and pick up my products with my paid receipt. They stapled a Rain Check w/products to my receipt and marked PAID. Thought that was very helpful of them. :)

Ok, so I am EXTREMELY frustrated right now with my local walgreen stores in my area and anyone with any advice for me would be greatly appreciated. My local store opens at 9AM and for the last four weeks every Sunday I have been there right when the store opens to begin my shopping. The first week went great and I was able to get my items with no problem but for the last two weeks I have gone and they have been completely out of the items. After two weeks of this I finally asked the manager how in the world they could already be out of the items and he told me that it is because the store starts putting the sale items out the night before and I asked him how that was fair and he said “well, they are getting them for the sale price, but they don’t get the RR that come with them.” So, last night I went to one of the local walgreens that is open 24 hrs and I was thinking that if I got there at midnight, I could still be early enough to get my store deals along with the RR but to my surprise, they were already out of the Ritz Crackers, Listerine, and the Right Guard Body wash. I then asked a store employee if maybe they had more of the items in the back and he said he would check but he doubted it because usually the store employees get first dibs on it and most the time they are out or almost all out of the product before they put it on the shelf. So, I left that store and waited until this morning for the one to open at 9 and of course, I was there ten minutes before the store opened, and as soon as it opened I went straight to the Ritz Crackers and they were gone! I then went to the Listerine…gone! Next, to the Ecotrin..gone!! And last, to the Right Guard body wash..GONE!! My questions are first, when would be a good time to go to be able to get the deals that are supposed to be on sale starting Sundays?? Do I go right before closing time Saturday nights? I would like to be able to get the RR so I don’t know if that would work. I mean, this has been for the last 4 Sundays in a row and I have been there as soon as the store opens and the products are already taken. Im sorry this was such a long comment Im just frustrated and wanting to know what you guys thought. Any advice on good times to go or what to do?? Thanks!

Shellie – I too have had the same problems lately. Especially in the last month – I haven’t been able to get hardly any of the deals, and certainly not in the same store. I have had to go to all the stores and get one thing here, one there, etc. Frustrating to say the least. It has gotten so bad – today when I went – All the things on my list..of course GONE. I spend money on papers for the coupons, gas, and my time planning – so if I can’t ever get a deal, then I have actually spent MORE money than I would have if I hadn’t tried to coupon. I know I didn’t answer your question, but I guess if it were that easy to do…everyone would be doing it!!!! Wait….everyone IS doing it!! I think that is the problem. lol.

I too have had the same issue, or that the cashiers are idiots and dont know their store policy’s. Even some of the managers dont really know their policies. I tried to give the store the benefit of the doubt, after several attempts i have given up on shopping there…I dont have the issues or the additude when shopping at my local grocery store that does double my coupons! Im done with walgreens!!!!

Katie May 29, 2011 at 8:59 am

and also in the walgreens add I don’t see the deal for the Ritz Crackers is that legit coupon going on?

Reply

Katie May 29, 2011 at 1:05 am

The Degree D.O coupons I don’t understand how you can use those 2 different coupons when the B1G1 makes you buy 2 so if you used 2 of them and 2 of the other won’t they throw a fit? Just like to prepare myself.

honestly, it depends on your cashier. some dont blink an eye, others get all flustered and call a manager who gets flustered. just depends on how well trained your people are.

Wouldn’t you be a little frustrated too if greedy people took advantage of your company every day?
