It’s cold and flu season again, so in an effort to keep your hands germ free, and save a little money, here are a couple ways you can make DIY Hand Sanitizer. There are many different ways to make DIY Hand Sanitizers using a variety of essential oils that have anti-bacterial qualities, but sometimes it just depends on what you have on hand. I have included one recipe that includes alcohol and one without.
Alcohol-Based Hand Sanitizer
What You Need:
–1/4 cup 100% Pure Aloe Vera Gel
–1/4 cup Grain Alcohol
–Essential Oils (8-10 drops)
Hand sanitizers made with alcohol can be very drying to the hands, so take care to only use a little bit each use, and keep your hands moisturized.
Alcohol-Free Hand Sanitizer
What You Need:
–1 cup 100% Pure Aloe Vera
–1-2 tsp Witch Hazel
–20-25 Drops of Tea Tree Oil
Please note: It is not recommended to use Tea Tree Oil on infants or women who are nursing. If you question whether or not you should be using something, contact your physician.
What to Do:
Either version can be made by simple mixing the ingredients together and putting them in a small container, or even a reused hand sanitizer bottle that has been washed clean.
