Great idea! I made 3 batches today using three men’s large t shirts. The only thing I’m going to change next time is the amount of Dawn. Way too much suds left on surfaces which I have to rinse off. Kinda defeats purpose of ease of use. So think next time just a teaspoon of soap per cup of water and quarter cup alcohol. Heads up regarding alcohol odor, it’s strong. So you might want to use in well ventilated area.

I have made about 3 or 4 batches of these wipes and they are great to have. I do have a question though. Has anyone else experienced a soap residue left behind after wiping the counters/tables with these? I’ve tried cutting down the amount of soap from 2 tbls to 1 tbls per batch and that still isn’t helping.

Thank you !!!! For sharing This is a life saver for me since I do residential and commercial cleaning and with this pandemia it’s really hard to find products to disinfect thank you one more time ♥️

Why is “dawn” the only dish detergent to use? Dawn is not available every where so surely a substitute would work just as well?

  5. Stacey says:

Thank you for your post. I made a set today.

I LOVE this because it doesn’t need vinegar! Today at Dollar Tree I found 12 oz bottles of wintergreen scented alcohol. It smells great and I’m so excited to try it!! This will be third batch of cleaning clothes.

Can you use this with the paper towel method??

    1. Passion For Savings says:

You could use Paper Towels instead of rags, yes.

  8. Heidi Chancellor says:

This might be a funny question, but what did you use for the cloth rags?

    1. Passion For Savings says:

Hi Heidi, I used old wash cloths, but you can also use thin white dish towels.

Previous comment meant out of curiosity, not argument. :) I would love to make these, but I use 7th Gen dish soap.

  10. Christina S. says:

Why does the recipe need Dawn? What’s wrong with another, more earth-friendly, dish detergent?

    1. Passion For Savings says:

Hi Christina, you are welcome to try another soap, we are just sharing what we had used personally. If you give it a try come back and let us know how it worked!

Actually, Clorox wipes do not contain bleach. Bleach degrades over time, so the bleach wouldn’t last through the distribution chain. The only ones I’ve ever seen that actually have bleach were some hospital grade ones, and even then it wasn’t your average household bleach.

  12. Tammy says:

No bleach? I figured homemade “Clorox” wipes would contain bleach…..the key ingredient in Clorox wipes.
