2. Print valuable coupons.
Visit the websites of your favorite meat companies and print the coupons they have available. Eckrich, Oscar Mayer, Jennie O, and other companies who specialize in meat products are always offering website printables, so take a look and print away.
3. Look for quick sale reductions.
Many grocers have a reduced for quick sale section. Ask where the one is at your grocer so you can check it for reduced meat. You will want to use this meat right away as it is nearing the expiration date, so be sure you have a recipe in mind when snagging it.
4. Buy bone in meat products.
When you buy meat that still has the bone and skin, it is sure to cost you less. Plus, many people think it is more flavorful. Buy bone in meat products and either remove the bone yourself or grill it bone in. So inexpensive and tasty!
5. Look for less expensive cuts.
Chicken legs cost less than breasts. Certain beef cuts costs less than others. Opt for the less expensive cuts for your stews, casseroles, and other dishes where your meat will be chopped or shredded. Chances are no one will tell the difference.
Give these tips a try and see how you too can save on meat. You will still be able to enjoy all of the protein packed meat recipes you love for less.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a large enough freezer to store meat in bulk. My best option for saving money on meat is to watch the sales at the local grocery store and plan meals around what’s on sale each week.
Hiya, I like your site a lot. However, I have to say, I’m not so sure these tips are very helpful. I spent the last year shopping at Costo and Sams Club, thinking I’d save on meat by buying in bulk. But in the end the cost of the meat turned out to be a bit more expensive than at regular supermarkets. Also, Buying bone-in adds to the prices and you end up paying more for the weight of the bone rather than the price per pound of meat itself. If anything, buying in larger portions where you break down the meat into smaller cuts/portions serves to save more money in the end (provided you know how to do so and what cuts are what).
I always buy reduced meat from two grocery stores near my home. I do have to make it at the store before 8 a.m. or else it’s all gone. I don’t cook it right away, I freeze portions in Ziplock freezer bags until I need it, BUT I am careful when choosing my cuts of meat. If the color is odd, the package has too much blood in it, or it just all around looks old, I skip buying it. I have bought meat that was stinky, but I returned it and got a full refund. That was ONE incident in 17 years that the meat wasn’t fresh. I do not buy almost expired fish or pork though, only chicken and beef. I’m sure over the course of all these years I’ve probably saved ALOT of money!!
