I wanted to quickly mention the Sale on Meat at Aldi’s this week. Did you know that you can Price Match Meat at Walmart? My store has several great deals on meat and I thought it was a good time to remind you that even if you don’t shop at Aldi’ you can price match most of the meat prices at Walmart.
Check out this post on the Walmart Price Match Policy for a few tips and tricks on Price Matching!
Walmart Will Price Match Fresh Produce and Meat Items. This is specifically addressed in the Ad Match Guarantee:
We gladly match the price in the following types of ads:*
Buy one, get one free ads with a specified price
Example: Buy one for $2.49, get one free (BOGO)
Competitors’ ads that feature a specific item for a specified price
Preferred shopping card prices for specific items that are in a printed ad
For fresh produce and meat items when the price is offered in the same unit type (lb. for lb.; each for each)
This is the Key, You must have the Per Unit Pricing listed. So for example, Aldi’s Ad this week lists the Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast for $1.59/lb. My Walmart has the Family Packs for $1.98 per lb. and I have never had a problem matching these items because there’s not really a brand name listed on either item.
The Steak and Beef Stew Meat are also listed per pound which is how Walmart sells them so you should be able to price match just about any of this weeks prices.
Keep in mind, there is this exclusion in the price match policy:
We do not match the price in the following types of competitor ads:
Competitors’ private label price promotions
Depending on your store you may or may not be able to price match the meats with brand names listed (i.e. Kirkwood or Roseland) but my store was only about 10¢ higher per pound on some of these items so I am guessing most stores would still price match, I just wanted you to be aware that this exclusion is in the policy in case you encounter problems, but most of the meat prices this week do not list a specific brand.
Stocking Up on Meat –
I actually like to stock up on Meat at my local grocery store or Sams Club when it’s on Clearance! I buy in bulk and use my Food Saver Unit to store this in the freezer in smaller portions.
Make sure you are comparing prices based on the Unit Pricing or Per Pound when it comes to meat. I found Some Items marked down at Sam’s Club that were cheaper than these Aldi’s Prices. So it’s always a good idea to know what the best price is in your area!
One more note: We do not have very many grocery stores in our area so there are very few stock up prices on meat, I’m guessing these prices are a little high for most areas of the country, so make sure you pay attention to what a good price is in your area because every region is different.
Do you know if Walmart would price match meat if the store I am trying to match sells select steaks and I want to price match with Walmart’s choice steaks? The competitor doesn’t list their steaks as Select, but they obviously are, so I wonder if Walmart would care.
I was wondering when is the best time for clearance meat in the area and what are stock up prices for it?
I typically find Wednesday or Thursday mornings are best but it depends on the store. My stock up list can be found here and you can search it for meat https://www.passionforsavings.com/stockpiling-stock-up-price-list/
My Walmart won’t let me price match meat and you can’t price match anything from aldi unless Walmart carries the same brand.
We nearly always have a problem with the meat. “Well, the ad says fresh and ours is from frozen,” one week and, “Well, the ad says from frozen and ours is fresh,” the next. They’ve also started labeling things just slightly different than most stores in order to be able to say it’s not the exact same thing. We’ve always try, but only make out with our meat about 20% of the time.
I often have a hard time price matching meat and buy get one offers. The manager always has to be called and they wind up saying no. How can I get them to match without causing a scene?
Hi Deb, I am sorry you have been having trouble with this. My only suggestion is that you try another store or call the corporate office.
