V.Reader by V Tech Review and Giveaway

I’m so excited to be teaming up with VTech to let you know about the new V.Reader which just hit store shelves this week. The VTech V.Reader is available exclusively at Target and it’s a fun and exciting way for kids to fall in love with reading.

The V.Reader is a story-time system that allows kids to keep multiple books on one unit. You can download up to 100 additional stories online, including some free titles and you can also purchase additional cartridges which contain both games and stories.

Here are my 2 favorite features of the V.Reader by VTech!

Reading Skills:
The V.Reader teaches reading comprehension, vocabulary, phonics and word building, along with a story dictionary that describes word definitions in a manner that’s easy for them to comprehend.

Touch and Read System:
Kids have two play options – listen and follow along to the story as read by animated characters; or touch the screen and play reading games to learn each word or sentence.

I really felt like this reader was great for both young and older kids. I love that it’s almost like watching a movie only you are seeing and hearing the words all at the same time. It’s a perfect match for those kids who like to be in front of the TV rather than with their nose in a book.

Eleven Shoes: Summer Collection Review & Giveaway

Can you believe that this weekend marks the Un-Official start of Summer? I’m having a hard time figuring out just where the beginning of the year has gone. My kids are growing up so fast and with all that growing comes the need for new shoes. :) Recently we were given the chance to try the eleven brand of shoes for my son. I was excited that he’s finally big enough to wear these shoes because they have some great colors and styles in the new Summer Collection. Check out all these great looks that are a part of the Spring/Summer 2010 Collection.

We got a chance to try out the Nolan Shoes for my 2 year old son and let’s just say I’ve put them through the best testing you can find (A Highly Active 2 year old boy). I know that while I initially shop for shoes based on style my ultimate goal is finding something that holds up well. I also want something that’s comfortable, easy to get on and off and easy to walk/run in.

To start of with my favorite feature the style, I instantly fell in love with the cute selection of the new Spring/Summer line from eleven shoes. I do have to say that I think the girls collection is very cute and I can’t wait for my little girl to wear these shoes, but I was disappointed that there wasn’t more variety in the boys collection.

I wanted to make sure these held up well because they aren’t the most frugal shoes that you can buy and I am a big believer in Quality so I can justify paying more for shoes if they are going to last. We’ve probably been wearing these shoes almost 2 months and I am impressed that they still look as good as new. They have a few scratches here and there, but overall they have held up well. I also love the Velcro closure which makes it easy for my son to get these on and off. One last feature that I love is the Grip of the bottom of the shoe. It’s got a great support as well as a good tread for easy and secure walking (or in our case running).

Giveaway: Bravado Nursing Tank

I’ve mentioned Bravado Designs before because of their great fitting nursing bras. However Bravado also has a great nursing tank. I recently had the chance to try the Bravado Tank in the New Lagoon Blue Color. You can see all the great colors here.

My Experience:

I was excited when my Bravado Tank arrived. I am at that point where I’m sick of my maternity clothes and not quite back into my pre-pregnancy clothes so let’s just say I was ready for something new! The first thing that caught my eye was the amazing color! Let me tell you, the new Lagoon Blue color is even prettier in person than it is on the screen. I immediately starting thinking of items in my closet that I could pair it with.

The Shape of this nursing tank is great, I love the shape of the neckline because it makes it look like more than a tank, and I love the extra design of the “Ruching” at the bust. This tank is perfect for layering with a sweater, or cardigan and I’m sure it will be great by its self when it gets a little warmer.

The Support provided by the built in bra is great! I love that I can feel comfortable and confident in this tank. I also love that the tank opens completely providing easy access for nursing. It has quickly become one of my favorites.

The Length of the tank might be a little short for my tastes, I typically like a long tank so that when I’m playing on the floor or getting in and out of the car it covers my jeans and doesn’t ride up. This tank does a good job of staying in place, and it comes to the top of my jeans, just not quite as long as I typically prefer.

Overall I really do love this tank, I love the support of the full bra and I love the shape and design of the tank. The possibilities really are limitless, I feel like I’ve given a little life to my post-maternity wardrobe.

The Mommy in Me: ERGO Baby Carrier Giveaway

Baby carriers are quickly becoming a “Must Have” on every registry. With so many carriers on the market it can be hard for new moms to know exactly what to try and where to begin. Recently ERGO sent me one of their Organic Carriers along with the Heart to Heart insert so that I could give you my opinion.

ERGO Baby Carriers are designed with a baby in mind. With a unique design to support a baby’s natural sitting position ERGO Carriers are stylish, comfortable, and practical. So many carriers do not provide proper support to a baby. The ERGOcarrier is designed to eliminate compression of the spine of the baby, while also distributing the weight and reducing stress on the parent as well.

My Experience:

I was able to start using the ERGO Baby Carrier with my newborn thanks to the Heart to Heart insert (I will talk more about this later). The first thing I noticed about the ERGO was the waist support. The other carriers I had tried did not have the same support features for the parent so I loved how secure and comfortable the carrier felt.

I also thought the ERGO Carrier was easy to get my baby into. I know some carriers require a lot of practice to use quickly, but I found when my little girl was crying or I needed a carrier I could quickly get this on and get her inside without any help.

The Ergo carrier is very versatile, you can use it as a front carrier or a back carrier, and I was surprised to learn there is even a positioning for the hip. The Ergo carrier has given me freedom to have my baby close while still accomplishing daily tasks; in fact, I have my little girl in the ERGO right now as I write this post.

The Heart2Heart Insert:

One of the things I have noticed with other carriers like this that I have tried in the past is that you really can’t use them until your child can hold up their head by themselves and they are a few months old. I’ve just never had much luck using them with a newborn.

The Heart2Heart insert is what sets the ERGO apart for infants. The Heart2Heart is designed to be used in addition to the ERGO Carrier and it allows you to safely and comfortably place an infant in the ERGO Carrier. The Heart2Heart also provides a unique support system for the baby. What I love most about the Heart2Heart is that my babies neck is supported. I also love that it keeps her close to me while giving me freedom to move around without worrying about the position of her head or neck.

The Heart2Heart insert has support at the bottom that supports the babies pelvis, hips and legs. It keeps them in the correct alignment so they are comfortable and secure. At first I have to admit I wasn’t sure if I would like the extra parts and pieces, but I really do love having my baby positioned correctly and knowing that she isn’t flopping around.

There were a few things that I found myself not liking about the ERGO Baby Carrier. First, after a little while the body heat from my baby would make me a little warm. I found this was worse when I had on a shirt that was low enough for my babies face to be up against me. I also thought that the extra piece of the insert made it hard for me to want to carry around. I would love to have an easy storage system for traveling with the carrier so all the pieces can be in one place. And finally I found myself not using the carrier for the specific reason that my baby would fall asleep every time I put her in the carrier.

October was SIDS Awareness Month, and even though October (And Most of November) Has come and gone it’s never too late to talk about the best way for your baby to sleep. Halo Sleep Sack has a great list of Safety Sleeping Tips for Babies to help avoid SIDS. You can Check them out Here!

Halo Sleep Sacks provide a great alternative to blankets, especially for the active sleepers who tend to come uncovered in the middle of the night. Recently Halo sent me one of their Early Walker Sleep Sacks for my Son to try. At first I was really worried that he might not like it, but I knew that Winter was coming and that he often comes uncovered when sleeping, so I was looking for an option to keep him warm over the next few months. Here are a few of my thoughts on this product:

Contrary to what I first thought, My Son actually loves this product and asks to wear his blanket every night before bed. In fact one night it was being washed and he was really upset that he couldn’t wear it. He also sometimes asks to keep it on in the mornings while he drinks his milk.
I love that it stays on all night and I don’t have to worry if it’s cold outside. Plus there is plenty of room for his pajama’s so I’ve been dressing him like normal and then using the Sleep Sack in place of a blanket.
The Zipper on the front of the sleep sack zips from the top to the bottom so my Son can’t get out of it on his own.

Really, the only thing I thought you might want to know about this product is that the sizing might be a little big. My Son fits exactly into the sizing for the XL Walking Sleep Sack, but it’s a little long for him and there is plenty of room. I’m thinking he will be able to wear it for at least a year, which is great because then I don’t have to find a new solution next fall.

My Honest and Humble Opinion: I can’t wait for you to try this product. I think you will be surprised at just how much you love it! I thought it was a great idea, and loved the concept, but I don’t know if I will ever get my Son to sleep without one now. I never dreamed that he would love it so much, and you guys know I don’t say that about every product. I am already registering for the Original Sleep Sack for my little girl, I can’t wait to try that one out too!

Today I want to share a product with you that has become a necessity and a time saver in our house. Lovable Labels provides Dishwasher and Microwave safe labels for just about any purpose.

Originally when my Son was born I used the standard Masking Tape and Sharpie for labeling his stuff, however I soon learned that it was a daily or weekly task to keep these things labeled. After a few “notes” from the Childcare workers at church I decided to order some of the Slimline Sticker Labels with his name on them. I have been using these stickers for over a year now and even the ones on his bottles are still legible and in place and I wash these in the dishwasher frequently. I have been spending a lot of time working on trying to decide what I want to do in my nersery. When my son was born we ended up painting a design on his walls. What we quickly learned was that our walls are textured to the extent that it makes it hard to use painters tape to get a straight line, and it takes a lot of patience to get the lines striaght. There is just about one thing that I know of for the little girls room. I am only painting one solid color! My Solution for text and graphics:

One of my “Must Haves” as a Nursing Mom was the Glamourmom Nursing Tank. I loved that I could order this tank in the longer version and wear it under my pre-pregnancy clothing. Having Glamourmom Tanks actually saved me money because I didn’t have to purchase additional clothing for the nursing stage.

REVIEW:

Recently Glamourmom sent me the Transition Nursing Tank to try so that I could share my opinion with you. The Transition Tank has extra room for a growing belly and is made for that time right after having a baby when you are still trying to get back into your normal size.

I loved that the Transition tank has the original Glamourmom Nursing Bra Included. Even though this isn’t something I need now, I am planning on taking this to the Hospital for those first few days and weeks after birth when I will need the extra room and the nursing tank.

I also found the Transition tank to be extremely comfortable because of the extra room in the tummy area. I also love how practical this tank is. One of my biggest complaints about maternity clothing is that even though you still need that sizing immediately after having a baby you often don’t have the access you need for nursing. The Glamourmom Transition Tank provides both features in one item.

My only complaint about the Transition Tank is that it really isn’t long enough for my tastes. One of the reasons I first ordered the Glamourmom products with my first Son was because I could get these in a longer version and most normal nursing tanks are too short. I would love to see Glamourmom produce this tank in the longer version! I am about 5′ 8″ and I felt like this barely covered the panel on my maternity jeans. Since I am only half way through my pregnancy I am curious to see how it fits in the end. If you are used to wearing the original Glamourmom tanks then I am sure this would be the right length for you, it was just a little shorter than what I was used to.

When I started working on this series I asked several of my friends what their “Must Have” baby item was. There are so many new products on the market and I wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something that other mom’s were using and loving. One of my sweet friends told me about the Itzbeen timer, and after a little research and testing I can understand why this is one of her favorites!

REVIEW:

The Itzbeen timer is a product that helps new mothers remember, learn and communicate basic details about baby care. The all in one timer lets you know how long it’s been since you last fed, changed, or put your baby to sleep. There is even a button that lets nursing mothers track which side they last used.

The Itzbeen timer is small and easy enough to throw in a diaper bag or purse and take with you. There are optional alarms that you can use and even a child proof lock so your 2 year old can’t reset the timers. With the Itzbeen timer you can set the interval for each task, then all you have to do is press the button once and the timer starts counting up. When it’s been the specified amount of time then the alarm will sound if this feature is enabled. It’s really a great tool for helping mothers stay on schedule.

I have to tell you, I am one of those mothers that always thought I would be able to keep up with all of this “baby stuff” I had always been great at multitsking and really, how hard could it be to remember which side you nursed on first 3 hours ago? I told my husband that if first time moms aren’t the ones who will be buying this, then it’s second time moms because we already know just how easy it is to forget when you are running on just a few hours of sleep.

One of my favorite features of the timer is the “Additional” button that lets you set the timer for any task you choose. This was perfect for me to use for my Son and making sure that his medicine stayed on schedule. I am a little worried about forgetting and giving it to him too close together, but the timer easily let’s you track the 4-6 hour intervals so that you don’t have to remember what time you gave it last.

With all the talk of H1N1 and the Flu this season I have gotten a little paranoid about catching this at the “First Signs” of Flu Like Symptoms.
