I had the opportunity to review the new D-Link Wi-Fi Baby Monitor (DCS-825L) and it is full of the newest technology for a baby monitor. For the technologically savvy parents this is the newest way to keep an eye on your kids while at home or away. There is only one unit – the baby camera and then you use your smartphone or tablet as the parent device which allows you to monitor your baby from anywhere you have your device with the mydlink app downloaded for easy viewing.
The camera comes with a blue and pink ring which you can change out for personalization. There are lullabies that you can play for your baby right on the monitor and even a microSD card slot for recording details or special moments so you don’t miss a thing. There is also a sound and motion detection on the camera which alerts parents of loud noises like crying or movement (you can set how sensitive the noises or movements are as to how you want to be alerted in the mydlink app). The camera can also detect the temperature in the baby’s room so it doesn’t become too hot or cold (you set your limits of what is too hot or cold in the mydlink app).
The 720p HD resolution really does have a clear video. I also liked the night vision technology which helps for nighttime monitoring without distracting the baby with any lights. Another feature I like is that this is really easy to transport because you only have the camera unit and you will have your phone or tablet with you anyhow so you are eliminating clutter and more stuff to travel with on the go. There are security settings on the monitor and of course you set up passwords to keep your account private which you will go through a setup process when you first set up your camera. It took me about 30 minutes to get everything set up and working (I was having trouble with my wi-fi and figuring out how to view the camera, but my husband got ift figured out). I think it should only really take about 15 minutes to set up. After that initial process, you can view the monitor with as much as your login in just a few seconds.
This new Wi-Fi Baby Camera (DCS-825L) is literally the most versatile and full-featured baby monitoring solution available on the market today. My husband even asked where the parent unit was, and I had to tell him there wasn’t one…it was our smartphone and iPad! Our youngest is only 5 so we haven’t been in the business of baby equipment long, but it sure changes quickly!
If you aren’t really into having a video monitor, this wouldn’t be for you, because it is strictly video. You would want to just buy the regular monitor with no video if you want something more basic which is definitely whatever you are most comfortable with.
If you are interested in the newest technology for baby cameras and monitoring them, I’d definitely suggest giving this D-Link Wi-Fi Baby Camera (DCS-825L) a try.
