If you found this post after Watching Extreme Couponing on TLC, Welcome! I know there are a lot of mixed reviews on the show due to the somewhat Unrealistic nature of the series I also know that I have a lot of new readers who are just entering the world of couponing and I wanted to share with you a few resources all in one place to help you get started!
First, let me start off by saying that It really is possible to Shop for Free! In fact, I have an entire series called “Shop for Free” Where I share coupons and products that you can use to take things home at little to no cost to you. However, not everything is always going to be free, but I do believe that you can save on just about everything regardless of what type of food needs you have and where you live.
Once you understand the basics of how to use coupons then the rest is just putting it into practice. Keep in mind that couponing can be addictive. It’s easy to take home things you won’t ever use or things that you don’t need so make sure that you are being realistic in what you buy. Also, Every store has different limits and rules in place so my number one tip for avoiding frustration at the checkout line is to know your individual stores coupon policy.

I really hope that you will take the time to check out these posts above. You will find some great information that will hopefully help explain some of the things I say on a daily basis. Couponing is a process, you’re not going to start off one day and walk out of a store with $2,000 worth of stuff the next day, but over time you really can learn to save your family money and reduce your budget. Is there any site online that will show me grocery prices?
Kim, which grocery store are you looking for?
I would like a comparison between Dalh’s and Hy-Vee’s normal everyday prices so I know when there is truly a sale going on. Thanks for your help.
The Walgreens where i live is getting frustrated with the way people are clearing the shelves. I understand a sale is a sale regardless, but there is a Walgreens on about every corner and everyone can manage to get what they want during the week without going to the extreme. I have gone in plenty of times toget a couple of great items with coupons just to realize the shelves are cleared of that product. I am hoping the people taking it to another level wont ruin it for the rest of us.
Walgreens is putting a stop to our method of couponing (multiple transactions). One location is limiting the items to 2 items per person and another I went to tonight said they were limiting their customers to one transaction PER DAY! Is anyone else running into the same kind of trouble?
I am a new newbie couponer I read the entire E- Book that was offered to me through Passion for Saving. It took me 2 hours to to read it due to wanting to learn how to get a great deal of savings on all sorts of products, not just for food. I took a leap of faith today and ventured off to the store with multiple coupons, for 3 different stores, including Walgreens. I had not one problem using 23 different coupons and was astonished how much fun I had getting a bit lost looking for some of the items I knew I had coupons for, and once I used my reward Cards along with these coupons My savings was 36% as it showed me on my transaction ticket. It included the amount of points I have toward getting gas for my car. It all adds up to savings, even if it is only 20% off your bill. Contact TLC if you really think they are running a fraudulence /Fraud, just make sure you get the facts from the main source; TLC.
Just the facts
I am new in the couponing world and I came across that show. I am personally out of work because a manager a walgreens who never was supposed to be in the pharmacy was secually harrassing me. so now I am out of a job because I stood up for all the employee who where to scared. I would reather be here. But thank you for clarifiying the show its crazy to have 1,800.00 worth of stuff and pay .28 cents. I thought I did could getting my 2 clean and clear body washes for 1.28. Thank you. If you have a bad experiance at walgreens call 1-800 walgreens. Thank you for not thinking I am doing something wrong.
I LEAVE IN A REGION WHERE THE MONOPOLOIZED GROCERY STORE DOES NOT DOUBLE NOR TRIPLE COUPONS.. AT TIMES, REJECT SOME COUPONS SINCE THEY HAVE THE SAMECOUPON WITH THEIR LOGO BY THE DOOR,, A CONVINIENCE FOR THOSE WHO FORGET THEM AT HOME,, BUT NORMALLY DO NOT GET USED FOR THE HASSLE OF HAVING TO LOOK FOR THE COUPON YOU ARE NEEDING. I TRY TO KEEP A FOOD BUDGET OF $50- $75 WEEKLY AND THAT’S WITH STORE BRAND FOODS. I GUESS THE FEW STRORES THAT DO DOUBLE OR TRIPLE IN MY STATE OF TEXAS, NONE WITHIN A FOUR HOUR DRIVE OF OUR HOME.. THOSE STORES ON THE SHOW SHOULD AND THE SHOW ITSELF,, SHOULD DISCLOSE THAT COUPON POLICY HAVE BEEN ALTRERED IN ORDER TO COMPLY WITH THE TV SHOW.
I find that even if it’s called “extreme” couponing it’s giving us regular couponers a bad rep.. I used to go into a store with my binder and people would approach me all the time with a smile and questions.. Now all I get is “you’re getting all this for free aren’t you.. ts, ts, ts.. raising prices for everyone else.” and “ugh.. are you going to be in this store for 6 hours to get all this for free?” and the best one is: “are you committing coupon fraud like all the others on the show?” It used to be fun to share the experience with people.. and now even the cashiers let out a sigh when you show up with your coupons! I have found that the “new” manager of our local Walgreens is rude to say the least! My friend gave someone in line a coupon for diapers yesterday (neither one of us have small children) and the MANAGER was like.. “you can’t do that”.. “isn’t that coupon fraud or something?”… UGH! So my friend told her.. YES, I can give whomever I want a coupon whenever I want… Has nothing to do with coupon fraud! It’s coupon fraud if you use it on a product it’s not intended for! She also wouldn’t let me use an MFR and a RR on a product even though I used a filler item! So you see.. the show isn’t really helping anyone.. it’s just making it harder to coupon and be a couponer! Needless to say I will no longer be shopping at that Walgreens because the new manager is rude, un-informed and just plain mean! I will drive the extra miles and go to another location! I would love nothing more then to email corporate if I thought they cared in the least!
You should definitely email corporate. I had a bad experience at my Walgreens where the manager would not accept one of my coupons when their coupon policy stated it was ok. I emailed corporate and the next morning I got a very apologetic phone call from the manager asking me to come and get a refund of my money. Walgreens is very customer service oriented and corporate is quick to react to complaints!
What is the most of one coupon that you can use for a single item purchase, and which store will allow the most coupons for one item?
This show should be reported for fraud. Tonight’s show had a man that used 20 of the same coupon. I have used the exact same coupon and it said that you cannot use more than 2 of the same coupon. I love coupons and getting free stuff too but this show is nothing but a lie. I know it’s supposed to be ‘Extreme’ but can’t they make it honest too?
The biggest problem with coupons is that they have so much written on them that it takes forever to read each and every one, for every detail. I used the Allegra coupon and did not realize that it had written on it that you could only use one per transaction. When I went to use it the first time the cashier nor I caught this, so the next time I used the coupons, the cashier saw the writing and told me so I did not use more than one each time. I just didn’t see the writing.
I would love to watch this on line too!
We watched the original show and didn’t understand how they bought so much in one transaction. Our local stores that double and triple limit the double and tripling to three per transaction. On the show they didn’t do that.
Anybody have any thoughts on this?
Well a lot of stores actually adjust their coupon policies for the show. so that’s why people don’t think it’s very realistic. That’s probably the number one complaint about the show since a normal person can’t walk in and buy that much at any 1 store in 1 transaction.
some stores do not limit how many of like coupons they will double. the best store we have around here is the bi-lo. they double up to $.60 everyday and there’s not a limit as to how many you can use. i know there was one of the people on the show that shopped at a bi-lo. a few also used kroger. i don’t think they limit the number of like coupons…however, i know what you are talking about. we also have an ingles nearby. i don’t shop there b/c not only are their prices MUCH higher unless on a super deal, but they will only double (up to $.50) the first 2 or 3 coupons if you have several of the same…
Does anyone know if there is a way to watch this online? It looks like it would be interesting to watch people take it to far.

This link opened several spam windows on my computer and I did not appreciate it one bit. I also did not get to watch online.
Key word – EXTREME. Not typical. ;)
