12 Household Items You Should Buy at Dollar Tree
Grocery bills and household expenses can be two of the biggest expenses in a household budget. If you don’t stay on top of them, they can easily overwhelm your budget. Luckily, you can save quite a bit of money by shopping around. One of the stores you should be shopping at is Dollar Tree. Dollar Tree can be great for groceries, kids items and more. Check out these 10 household items you should buy at Dollar Tree to save.
Anti-bacterial ointment – Neosporin can be crazy expensive, but Dollar Tree stores sell the same stuff for one dollar. The tubes are a bit smaller, but even buying the smaller tubes will cost you less in the long run over the brand name items.
Dryer Sheets – Dryer Sheets are one of those things that often have coupons and when you stack the coupons on the smaller size boxes at The Dollar Tree you can actually get some great deals! Just remember to compare the actual price per sheet to make sure your comparing apples to apples.
Hefty Bags – Food storage bags are really expensive at regular stores like Walmart. The Dollar Tree sells them for just $1.00 per box and if you add a coupon? You’ll save even more.
Plastic Silverware and paper plates – Having a party or picnic? Head to Dollar Tree to pick up your tableware. You’ll save over buying at bigger stores on the exact same products.
Kitchen Tools – Need a new spatula? Your local Dollar Tree has you covered. I know that a lot of people seem to think that their products are subpar, but these aren’t. In fact? They’re Betty Crocker brand and well worth $1.00 each.
Shower Curtain Liners – Need to pick up a new shower curtain liner? If so, pop over to Dollar Tree! They’ve got the exact same ones for $1.00 that Walmart will charge you $8.00 or more for!
Febreze – While you can’t buy the name brand stuff at Dollar Tree, you CAN buy the generic version and guess what? It works just as well for $1.00 each.
Toilet Cleaner – The Works Toilet Bowl Cleaner is one of the best cleaning cleansers that you can buy and it’s almost $2.00 per bottle at Walmart. Grab it for just $1.00 at Dollar Tree and save a bit.
Lysol – Lysol can cost an arm and leg at other stores, but at Dollar Tree? You can afford to stock up.
Disinfectant Wipes – Don’t waste money on expensive wipes. Grab them here and you’ll save big.
Parchment Paper – You can get great deals on the Pre-Cut Sheets of Parchment Paper or the Rolls, this is great for baking and I haven’t noticed any differences in the quality. This is normally $3-$4 per box at other stores so it’s really a big savings!
Mr. Clean Erasers – If you are a big fan of Mr. Clean Erasers you know they can be super expensive. We use these to clean our White Baseboards in our house and the Dollar Tree Version works great and it’s about half the price of buying these at Walmart.
Keep in mind when shopping at Dollar Tree that not all stores carry the same items so if you go to your store and they don’t carry these items, that is the reason why. It is however, worth the time (and money saved!) to check the next time you’re in the store!
I can get my monthly supply of Melatonin for sleep for $1. I also get my coconut oil, lotion, and sun screen which I mix together to make my own wonderful body cream . my feet are better now than after using prescriptions.
I’m really disappointed at the Dollar Tree by my house. They rarely have any of the name brand items. This week I went shopping with coupons for dog treats and crest toothpaste. As soon as I presented them to the cashier, she said, “This is a dollar store, we don’t take coupons.” The manager was no help either. He wouldn’t help her scan the coupons. I just left everything and walked out
The spatulas and other utensils are of good quality, I have the whole collection. I will say, however that they are not heavy duty and will start to melt in high temp grease (as most plastic spoons and spatulas will).
Also, reading glasses….snack chips….laundry pre-wash….toothpaste….gift bags and tissue…bows….plastic storage containers and organizers…dog poopy bags….party supplies like themed and colored paper plates, napkins, cups, plastic table cloths to match as well as kids party favors and decorations.
Dryer sheets are less expensive at Sam’s Club, per sheet. They are the generic, but smell just as nice. And look for the instant savings flyer, at least once a year the generic dryer sheets are on the list. Paper plates are less expensive at Sam’s Club, but you end up getting them in bulk. Same for the plastic utensils. Also, consider they end up in a landfill or the ocean. Avoid one time use plastic anything. Make your own Febreeze, save tons of money. I use The Works toilet cleaner, if you get a coupon it will cost less at Wal-Mart. Also, DIY cleaner is always super cheap and not dangerous to septic tanks. Lysol wipes are cheapest at Sam’s Club, they are generic and come in a 5 pack for around $8 and are usually on the Instant Savings ad. Or you could do it the old fashioned way, a rag and liquid Lysol diluted. Parchment Paper is a steal at Sam’s Club, a giant roll is under $5. I still have mine from 3 years ago. Mr. Clean erasers are cheaper at Wal-Mart. You have to go to another aisle for the bulk container, it’s not with the 2-4 packs, and they are generic as well. Sometimes you can find a ton of them for under $12 on Amazon. Check for the quality in the comments section. Wal-Mart also carries the generic OTC medicines for .88 cents for the same quantity. Stock up when you find them.
