We only have 5 people in our family and while I love to cook from scratch it can be really time consuming and sometimes wasteful. So I’m loving this recipe that gives me flexibility and ease while still having to make biscuits from scratch without wasting any ingredients! And my family loves having the taste of Homemade Rolls at Dinner!

How many rolls does this make?
Made these up yesterday after YET ANOTHER failed package of Rhodes didn’t work (they don’t rise, they burn on the bottom at less than the asked-for temp, and are still doughy in the middle- Im don’t with them!) This recipe started rising almost immediately after taking them out of the freezer (it helps to have fresh yeast!) and they smell amazing (and I haven’t even baked them yet!) Thanks so much for saving our dinners this week!
Can this recipe be used for just bread? Like follow the directions until it
Comes times to making the rolls?
Thanks!
I haven’t ever tried it that way. I’m assuming that it could be, but you would probably need to lower the temp and cook longer. (Similar to going from a cupcake recipe to a cake recipe). Cakes and breads typically cook lower and longer to get them cooked all the way through. Those rolls cook really high. If you try it, you can come back and let me know how the bread turns out.
Hi can you please tell me , what is ‘shortening’ lol i have no idea what this is ? x
Basically it’s a fat that is solid at room temperature. You can buy Crisco Shortening in the baking goods isle. You can also substitute it out for butter, but it depends on the recipe and the consistency may change.
So glad I found a recipe for rolls that doesn’t have an egg! I just don’t like ‘eggy’ tasting bread! I do love eggs though! Thanks for sharing! Have a great day! Blessings from Bama!
If the flour self rising or regular
Definitely all purpose or bread flour
Awesome recipe, definitely going to try this
