My Kids and I love making this Fresh Homemade Lemonade Recipe! It’s so easy and simple but we have recently discovered a fun new way to enjoy Lemonade during hot summer afternoons! This Frozen Watermelon Lemonade Recipe fits our needs perfectly. We love slushies and when you add in the sweet from watermelon and tart from the lemonade, it is a killer combination.

How To Pick A Ripe Watermelon

Let me share a few pointers to look for when you go to pick out your watermelon. Nothing is worse than getting home to a watermelon that is far from ripe and doesn’t taste the way it should. 

• Heavy For Size | I use this method all the time, and generally, it doesn’t let me down. Reach for a watermelon that feels heavy for its size. Just pick up a handful of watermelons to gauge the weight and see which one feels the heaviest. 
• Tap | Tap the underside of the watermelon and listen for a deep thumping sound. If it is ripe it will sound hollow, if it is under-ripe it will sound dull to the ear. 
• Ripe Spot | On the side where the vine would have come out, and look to see if there is a yellowish spot on the melon. This shows it sat out in the field and ripened in the sun. This is a great sign to see on your melons. 

Can I Use Store Bought Lemonade

 I used my Fresh Homemade Lemonade, but you can also use store-bought lemonade or the kind you make from concentrate if you want to simplify this a little bit. Either route works, both are tasty options. 

Best Way To Serve Watermelon Lemonade Slushie

The best way to serve your watermelon lemonade slushie is right away. After you blend it up, toss it in glasses, garnish and serve. It will begin to melt and it won’t re-freeze that way. So hold off on blending until you are ready to serve to family or guests. 

How To Make Frozen Watermelon Lemonade

Ingredients For Frozen Watermelon Lemonade

• 1 Seedless Watermelon, Diced
  
• 1 Cup Sugar
  
• 5 Cups Water
  
• 1 ½ Cups of Lemon Juice
  
• 2 Lemons, Sliced (for garnish)

Directions For Frozen Watermelon Lemonade

1. Start by Cutting your Watermelon into small pieces
   
2. Line a Baking Sheet with Parchment Paper or Wax Paper
   
3. Place Watermelon on the Baking Sheet in one layer
   
4. Freeze in the Freezer for about 3 Hours or longer
   
5. In a Saucepan heat 1 Cup of Sugar with 2 Cups of Water
   
6. Bring sugar mixture to a boil, stirring frequently
   
7. Allow to boil for 3-5 minutes, Remove from heat and cool
   
8. In a large pitcher mix Water, Lemon Juice and Sugar Mixture
   
9. Chill Lemonade Mixture in the Fridge until ready to blend.
   
10. In a blender combine 1 Cup of Lemonade with 2 cups of Watermelon Cubes
    
11. Blend and serve immediately
