Aldi’s is one of many stores that has some great Deals on Produce! It’s Berry Season! Strawberries, Blueberries, Blackberries and More and I am so excited about it! I loveeeeee berries and so do my kids, but they go bad so far sometimes.
This is one of my favorite tricks I learned and it is so amazing! It helps keep my berries good for longer than usual. I wanted to share this with you so you can save money and not let your berries go bad!
All of these items are on sale for great prices making them perfect for stocking up. Remember now is a great time of the year to buy extra Fruit and Freeze it for the Winter Months, but I happen to love Fresh Fruit so I’ve got a trick to share with you to make your Fresh Berries last even longer!
Berries are one of my kids favorite snacks and i’m glad because it’s so much better than other snacks they could be eating. Having this hack to keep my berries fresh for longer helps me save money and to always have berries around so the kids have something healthy to snack on.
All you need is White Vinegar and Water and a Large Bowl.
Combine 4 Cups Water with 1/2 Cup Vinegar in a Bowl
Place Berries in the Vinegar/Water Mixture to kill the bacteria on the Berries and then remove and lay on a towel to dry. This helps the berries last so much longer! My kids go through a container of Strawberries a day sometimes so I will often buy 4-5 containers and this helps those last few containers last and look fresh even after several days!
Tip: As long as you let the Berries Dry Completely you won’t taste the Vinegar, this evaporates into the air and there is no flavor left behind.
This has saved me so much money on our berries, I can’t tell you how many times I had to throw away berries because they had gone bad before we could eat them. Give this awesome hack a try today and I promise you’ll love it! It’s really fast and easy to do so there’s really no reason not to give it a try.

When rinsing strawberries, do you eave the stems on?
Thanks so much for this tip! Even when you think you’ve looked them over carefully – there always seems to be one that is fuzzy. @Anne – she mentioned in the post as long as they air dry completely they do not smell or taste like vinegar.
How long do you have to soak them?
I am SO going to try this. Next week our store has the 6-pint box of blueberries on sale, so the timing is perfect. Thank you!
Thanks for the tip. I wish that I had it a week ago, b4 I let two pints of strawberries go bad.
I suggest that you let the berries soak for at least a few minutes before you take them out. Strawberries are one of the fruits heaviest in dangerous pesticides, and Dr. Oz recommends soaking them if you don’t or can’t buy organic.
Thank you so much for the great tip!
we bought alot of aldi’s strawberries, we cut the tops off and froze them! they last forever and are perfect for smoothies or pies =) (ok maybe not forever lol)
Okay, does it make them smell/taste like vinegar?
