Alright parents, we are all in this new online classroom world together! How are you doing with all of this? I am learning so much and it’s helping me in the new role as a “Homeschool Teacher.” So I wanted to share a resource that will be helpful for you. Check out How to Use Google Classroom for Parents!
How to Use Google Classroom for Parents
I know we all had to adjust to this social isolation without much notice. Kids are home and now learning online. Parents have to know how Google Classroom works so that we can help with our kid’s education. Don’t let it overwhelm you! I have put together a resource for you to navigate Google Classroom!
Getting Started on Google Classroom
We have gone digital. Google Classroom is where the majority of your child’s online work will be done. This is the digital link to their learning. The teacher will assign homework, newsletters, share assignment and so much more.
Your child has been assigned a secure login and password. Start by asking them for it or you can reach out to their teacher to obtain it.
The Basics
You will have to download the Google Chrome Browser. Sign in to your Google account. You will find the Sign In button in the upper-righthand corner. Type in your child’s Google Email address and click Next. It will then ask for the Password. Now you are logged in to the Google account.
Google Suite
Click on the 9 square icons to see all the icons. This is how to get Google Classroom.
Navigating Classroom on Google Classroom
Now you are able to select the class and get started on classwork. So if it’s 5th Hour Math classroom, you click on that class and find all the info you need.
Let me draw your attention to the important parts of this page. Parents, you will want to click on “classwork.” That is where you will find Assignments. Keep up to date with those assignments. You will also want to click “Upcoming” that is found on the left side of the page. Here you will find upcoming assignments. The “Stream” button will take you to any announcements that are important for your student.
Assignment Details
When you look at the Assignment Page, you will find all the details about the assignments for that class. Want to check their grades, you can find those here. Due dates are also available. Pretty much all the important info about the assignments are found here.
You can access Google Assignments from any device that is connected to the internet. I hope this is helpful in keeping you up to date with assignments. If you just can’t figure something out, reach out to their teacher. They will be happy to walk you through it.
