Here is a cute snack you can make to help celebrate St Patrick’s Day! Or would also be great for a birthday party. So fun to make and a great recipe to let the kids get involved.
Here is how you can make Rainbow Rice Krispies Treats.
What you Need:
–1 package (10 oz) Regular Marshmallows
–3 tablespoons Butter or Margarine
–6 cups Rice Krispies
–Food Coloring
–9×13 greased pan
What you Do:
–Depending on how many colors/layers you are making, you will need to divide all of the ingredients up accordingly. I’m using four colors.
–In large saucepan melt 1/4 butter over low heat. Add 1/4 marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Add one color of food coloring. Remove from heat.
–Add 1 1/2 cups or Rice Krispies. Stir well until coated.
–Using either a butter spatcula or wax paper, press the mixture into a 9×13 pan.
–Repeat with each color. But you will want to wash the pan out between colors.
–Let stand for at least 15 minutes before cutting and serving.
Because we are coming up on St. Patrick’s Day I left the green on the top. But you could even put a layer of white on top to “hide” the fact that there is a rainbow underneath until they are cut up.
This is such a fun recipe to make with the kids. They can help count out the marshmallows or cups of rice krispies. Also great way to reinforce colors with the little ones.
Enjoy!
