Looking for a healthy breakfast, snack on the go, or afterschool snack? This Strawberry Banana Smoothie might be the perfect solution! It only take a few ingredients, is inexpensive, and you can easily make it dairy free if you need to! Here’s what you need to make one Strawberry Banana Milkshake:
Strawberry Banana Smoothie
Ingredients:
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/3 cup frozen strawberries
- ½ cup milk or a milk alternative
- Tiny amount of honey or another sweetener
In a blender or a personal blender, blend the banana (you may want to thaw this for a few seconds in the microwave first if it’s not peeled so you can easily peel it), strawberries, milk, and honey. Blend until all the pieces of frozen fruit have been pureed.
You can use either regular milk or a milk substitute in this recipe such as almond milk, coconut milk, or rice milk, the taste will be the same.
You can also leave out the sweetener if you wish. Bananas are naturally sweet so the flavor will still be good without it.
This milkshake is very thick and creamy and the best part is that it doesn’t use ice cream so it’s much healthier and has fewer calories than a typical milkshake. The frozen banana will still give you the same texture as a milkshake made with ice cream.
You could try this milkshake with different kinds of frozen fruits (pineapple, mango, grapes, peaches, ect) for different flavor variations. Try it with whatever kinds of fruit you happen to have in your freezer.
This smoothie takes just about a minute to make since you leave most of the ingredients frozen and just have to add them to the blender, no prep time!
