I have so many friends with kids with food allergies, and it can be so stressful for them to find treats for their kids.

What is the Teal Pumpkin Project®?
The Teal Pumpkin Project is promoting the inclusion of kids with food allergies for trick-or-treating because the candy is so often not food allergy-friendly. I had a few kids with food allergies in my neighborhood last year, and I felt terrible that I wasn’t able to give them anything! Next time, I will be equipped with stickers and coloring books :)
When you put a teal pumpkin on your doorstep, it means you have non-food treats available, like toys, crayons, or other items. This allows for trick-or-treaters with food allergies or other conditions to participate without having to worry about their allergies! What an awesome way to make everyone feel included and be able to enjoy Halloween with everyone else! Look at that cute little inflatable one I found for $10!
How Can I Participate in the Teal Pumpkin Project?
It’s SO EASY!
- Provide non-food treats for trick-or-treaters
- Place a teal pumpkin in front of your home to indicate to passersby that you have non-food treats available
- Add your home to the Teal Pumpkin Project map
- Spread the word! Share the Teal Pumpkin Project with your friends and family
I think this is such a wonderful idea and plan on grabbing one myself! I found plenty of options at Target when I went, so check them all out at your local Target and grab some small non-candy treats for your visitors with food allergies :)
