It’s Back to School time at our house and that means that I become a FANATIC about anything that helps keep our house Lice Free :) So for us that includes using Lots of Tea Tree Oil in our Detangler, Lots of Hairspray and simple and quick Up-Do’s for my little girl with beautiful long hair!
Here are a few of our Easy Girls Hairstyles that we use when we’re in a hurry and we want something cute, but not too complicated!
Easy Girls Hairstyles
The Twisted Front
This is by far the quickest way to get my little girl’s hair out of her face. You just twist back the top section adding in a little hair as you go back to make it secure, then secure with a ponytail, and add a bow. The twisting actually keeps it from falling down into her face as the day goes on so this one typically stays really well for us.
Topsy Turvy
I’m a 90’s Girl, so that means I grew up in the age of the Topsy Turvy (Anyone else remember these?) You can still get them on Amazon, but you can also do these with your fingers. Just start with a ponytail, place two fingers through the bottom of the ponytail, then Flip the Hair Up into the fingers and pull it through. It works really well and again helps to secure fine hair for longer lengths of time.
Half French Braid
My girl loves a side pony tail but the problem we run into is the hair on the opposite side falling down. I finally started french braiding the opposite side of the ponytail to help keep all the smaller hairs up and tight. Start by braiding the Opposite side of the ponytail and then braid out longer than you want the french braid to go and secure with a ponytail holder. Then pull all the hair up on the side of the head and secure with another ponytail (Higher than the end of the braid). Once you have secured all the hair you can remove the first ponytail and add a bow.
Braided Bun
This one is super simple and great for getting all the hair up quickly. Just throw all the hair in a ponytail. Then Braid the ponytail and wrap in a circle then secure with bobby pins! This one is super simple and works with most hair types.
Sock Bun
Last but not least the Sock Bun is a fun one for little girls with long hair! This one does require a little bit more hair but it’s a great way to get it up and also works well for more formal parties and dresses. Start by placing all the hair in a ponytail, then add a sock wrapped around the ponytail and tuck the loose end back into the sock. Spread the hair all the way over the sock so it’s covered and secure with another ponytail holder. Then wrap the loose ends around to cover the ponytail holder and secure with bobby pins.
I’d love to know what your favorite hairstyles are for your little girl, just leave a comment and share your favorites!

Im not sure how old this post is (I searched little girl hair style ideas on Pinterest. lol.) However, my sweet girl has very thin hair that is in between medium and short length & we found a sock bun trick! Simply use a baby sock! Her 2 year old little brother had some mismatched socks that the pairs had evaporated for & she’s a ballet dancer whose bun never had enough volume! So we tried it and it works! All the same as a regular one.
These are really very cute hair styles.. lovable !
The half french braid is a favorite of mine, so simple and pretty, I need to try the sock bun one!
