Before we know it Thanksgiving will be here. I don’t know about you, but I start thinking about Thanksgiving even before Halloween has come and gone. Especially this year since I think we may be hosting Thanksgiving dinner at our house. So I’m in super plan mode. I want to make sure everything looks good and is perfect for the big day. I’m trying to gather things for my table and have been thinking about fall centerpiece ideas. I decided to create a Thanksgiving table box.
Creating this table box was really easy. I went to the hardware store and bought a 6ft piece of 1 x 4. I had the guy at the store cut the pieces for me. I cut (3) 20 inch pieces and (2) 5 inch pieces from my 1 x 4 board.
Then I stained my boards. If you don’t know how to stain wood, you can see the process from when I made my Give Thanks sign. You will notice I didn’t stain the ends of my 20 inch boards. That is because they are going to be covered.
I had my hubby help me with this part. We used a nail gun and nailed the 20 inch pieces together. One flat for the bottom and then the two sides.
We then nailed the 5 inch pieces onto the ends. And our box was done.
To fill my box and create my fall centerpiece, I found some empty jars and bought a bunch of miscellaneous filler from the dollar store and from the craft store. I just bought whatever I liked and whatever was on sale.
I filled up the 3 jars with leaves, berries and pumpkins that were on wire picks. Using wire cutters, I cut down any that were too long.
I put the jars back into the box and they looked great. Beautiful fall colors and all. But the centerpiece still needed something.
I then found some tiny pumpkins and some walnuts in the shells and filled the empty spaces of the box.
This Thanksgiving table box is a great fall centerpiece and will not only look beautiful on a Thanksgiving table, but would look great on a fireplace or an entryway. It really will look great anywhere you want it to feel like fall.
Happy Crafting!
