How to be more organized each week, how to plan school lunches, how to keep track of important events, how to improve your child’s behavior at school, and more. I’m going to show you how to get yourself and your children all on the same page.
So everyone can take one look at the board and know what is going on for the entire week!
How to make a Family Command Center
I can’t wait for my children to use the Family Command Center I made! This system will save you time, expense, hassle, improve communication between you and your spouse, and help your children become more responsible! Furthermore, using this will free up extra time in your life, remove needless repetitive conversations, and give you more time for the things you WANT and increase the POSITIVE conversations and meaningful moments with your kids!
To create this Family Command Center I used the Printable Pages from the Ultimate Back to School Planner ForMoms! It is on sale for 50% off right now when you use the Coupon Code BACKTOSCHOOL at checkout!
Reusable From Week To Week Command Center
First, I LOVE that these pages are reusable from week to week because I slipped them in plastic covers. It cuts down on the cost of printer ink, paper, and it’s eco-friendly! My children LOVE to fill out their own sheets and this is much more accessible for them on the wall at their level! Also, rather than time-consuming switching out the pages each week.
I can leave them in the plastic sleeves and simply wipe the dry erase marker clean. Lastly, whenever I make a mistake when writing, or if something changes in our week, I can easily erase it without feeling like I “messed up” my pretty planner page on my wall! This Family Command Center system is SO convenient and inexpensive, too!
Family Command Center for Back to School
Materials

- Scrapbooking Paper
- 8 Pages from the Ultimate Back to School Planner for Busy Moms.
- Double Sided Tape (optional)
Tools
- Stapler
- Scissors or cutting system for paper
Instructions
- Cover the cork background with scrapbooking paper.
- Create a border from scrapbooking paper by cutting the 12”x12” paper
into 3” strips. Then staple the border around the corkboard. Put the corkboard flat on the ground and evenly space out the eight
plastic page covers. I didn’t measure mine. They look just fine with eyeballing it!Open your stapler and staple the BACKSIDE ONLY of the plastic page covers
onto the cork. (If you staple through the entire paper cover, you won’t be able to slide your planner page inside!) You can also try the double-sided tape on the back if that’s easier for you!Slide your planner pages inside the plastic covers.

You can customize the planner for your own lifestyle, I wanted to share with you some of the pages I added to my Command Center. All of these are available in our Printable Back to School Planner for Busy Moms! It includes over 30 pages that you can use to get organized and ready for the School Year!
Lunchbox Menu Planner
The Student Lunchbox Menu Planner sheet is so helpful! It allows my children to easily look at the convenient sheet on the wall and pack their lunch by themselves! This sheet has saved me an infinite amount of time in the evenings and during our weekly lunch prep time! It helps my children take responsibility for their lunches and helps to remind them of what to pack. They are SO proud to take ownership of this!! Your kids will be, too!
Also, I don’t know about you, but my children frequently ask, “What can I have for a snack?” when we’re on the way home from school. The Student Snack Planner sheet from my Ultimate Back to School Planner For
Moms has single-handedly saved me MANY conversations of that nature! All my children can now look at the command center and see for themselves.
Activity Schedule for Back to School
I love having the both the Weekday Extracurricular Activity Schedule and the Weekend Extracurricular Activity Schedule posted on my Family Command Center, too. It helps SO much when planning our after-school activities! Also, my children have a different small backpack for each activity which keeps all their supplies together. They can look at the activity schedule on the wall and know which bag to set out when getting ready for the next day.
Weekly Goals Free Printable Sheet
So much of preparing our children for adulthood is giving them tools and solutions so they can be organized and solve problems themselves, instead of trying to remember everything and do everything for them! The My Weekly Goals sheet is a great tool to help your children be aware of they need to work on and helps them think up strategies for achieving their goals! You can help them list their reward, so they know what they’re working toward all week. It also has a section to list what they’re proud of, so the focus is also POSITIVE and not just what they need to change to do better with their goal.
Daily Routine Sheet
Also, I chose to include the Student Daily Routine sheet in the command center! The sections for the morning when they wake up, after school, and evening at bedtime help them focus only on that time of day, so the sheet is not overwhelming when they look at it. It is SO helpful to assist kids in establishing a routine and has saved me double-checking many little things every day. Again, you can customize this command station for however many children you have and add or remove the different pages as needed for whatever helps your busy household the MOST!!
Reading Log For Command Station
I added the Reading Log to the command station, too! Reading is so important in our home and this will really give your child a visual of how much they’ve read each week and hold them accountable. Some people measure reading time by pages and others measure by minutes, so we included both on our chart!
Behavior Reward Chart
Lastly, I included my FAVORITE sheet, the School Behavior Reward Chart! I love this because it focuses on both weekly behavior goals and monthly goals for your child. You can sit down with them and outline what the expectations are (the goal) and what they’ll receive each week and/or month if they meet those expectations. Then, they can draw a star with a dry erase marker on each day that they meet their goal!
Here is how to make your own Family Command Center. The instructions for making your own Family Command Center are super simple!
Tips For Making DIY Command Center
- Paint the Background | You could also paint the background of the corkboard with acrylic craft paint or even cover it with fabric. The pretty tropical planner pages cover most of the cork anyway!
- Ribbon | For the border, you could also use ribbon, party streamers, or the borders that teachers use at school. Of course, you don’t have to have a border at all; it’s completely optional!
Easy Family Command Center
As you can see, it is super easy to create a Family Command Center! It will help you be more organized, better plan your week, help your children become more accountable, and help establish better communication within your family.
It will also reduce the number of times you’re asked the same question day after day AND cut down on your having to double-check the same things each day.
