Free Classroom Pet for Teachers
I know a lot of teachers love to have pets in their classrooms to help engage their students and teach about nature! Not to mention it’s fun to watch the pet grow throughout the year! Did you know there is an organization that gives out grants that you can apply for and get a free classroom pet? The application process will is open and ALL teachers that apply for the grant will receive it!!
Do You Qualify?
The first step to get your classroom pet is to see if you qualify. Are you a pre-K through 9th grade public or private school teacher? Is this the first time applying for a pet classroom grant this year? If you have received an initial grant in any previous year then you will only be eligible to apply for a $50 Sustaining Grant. If you meet those requirements then you are eligible to apply!
You can go here and find great information that will help you decide which pet makes the most sense for your classroom. The Pet Care Trust offers 3 different types of Classroom Pets grants. They have Store Grant, Rebate Grants ($75 for small animals; $125 for fish/reptile/amphibian), Sustaining ($50 yearly for maintenance of current pet). Do your homework and pick the right pet for your students. Then submit your application for the grant.
You will want to check district guidelines to see if pets are allowed in the classroom. Click here to start your application!
