If I have to vacuum, I love to use a Carpet Deodorizer to make the house smell great when I’m done. I love it even more that I can easily make a Homemade Carpet Deodorizer. This way I’m saving money and I can make one that smells the way I want it to.
You may not realize just how easy it is to make your own Homemade Carpet Deodorizer. You just need a couple ingredients that you very possibly already have in your home.
What you Need:
1 Cup Baking Soda
Essential Oils (your favorite scent)
Empty and Clean Container
What you Do:
To make your own Homemade Carpet Deodorizer you simply mix together the baking soda and about 20 drops of the essential oil of your choice into your container and shake well.
To use your mixture, just shake the powder onto your carpet before you are going to vacuum. Let it sit in the carpet for 15 to 20 minutes before vacuuming it up.
Once you have used it, you will get a sense for how strong you want the scent to be. You can add more or less essential oils the next time you make a batch, depending on how strong you want the smell to be.
Reuse/Recycle Tip:
I love reusing items you sometimes just throw away, and this is a great way to reuse some containers that may have just ended up in the trash or recycle bin. For example, you can use a mason jar or any clean glass jar with holes poked in the lid. Just cover the holes while mixing everything together and it works great for sprinkling the mixture onto your carpet. You can also use an empty spice or parmesean cheese container. Once empty just clean it out well and allow it to dry. If you prefer, you can also grab the cute sugar shakers like they sell at the dollar stores. Any of these containers would work great for this homemade carper deodorizer.
