I love to use cleansing wipes around the house, but the combination of price and the chemicals many of them have, had me in search of a Homemade (Reusable) Wipes recipe!
These homemade wipes are made with vinegar, water and a some great essential oils for cleaning – thieves and lemon! And I love that they are reusable. You can keep the container in the kitchen and even make a second one for the bathroom. Place one in the spots you are most likely to use your wipes. Make a new batch each week to ensure they stay extra clean.
What You Need:
1/2 cup distilled white vinegar
3/4 cup distilled water
10-12 drops Thieves Essential Oil
5-7 drops Lemon Essential Oil
Airtight Container
Old rags (old t-shirts, towels or whatever you have)
What You Do:
1. Add 1/2 cup distilled white vinegar and 3/4 cup of distilled water to your container.
2. Add Thieves and Lemon Essential Oils and stir the liquids to mix them well.
3. Cut up your old rags into wipe size sections and place them inside the container.
4. Shake the container gently to saturate all of the rags.
It is that easy! And the combination of all of these great all-natural ingredients make for some powerful cleaners!
To use your homemade wipes, pull one “wipe” out of the container, wring out the excess liquid and use to wipe down almost any surfaces. When you are down using, it’s best to rinse out the rag with hot water before putting back in the container. To ensure they stay super clean, you will want to wash your rags every few days, or depending on how many “wipes” you have in your container, wash them about once a week.
You can even use these great wipes to clean extra dirty surfaces like the toilet. Just throw those wipes right into the laundry when you are done. So easy and a natural way to clean up even the toughest jobs!
Plus, here is more information about the Essential Oils that I used to make these wipes! They are the only ones I use for health and wellness for my family!

WHAT is Thieves oil? where could you get it?
Do you have to use the oils?
I have mixed feelings on this. I LOVED my disposable wipes, until one day they began eating the skin off of anywhere they touch. I still use them now, but must use gloves.
I LOVE the idea of reusable wipes. I would really like to know if it disenfects as well as the others. I hate to just make the germs smell good! ;)
My main concern is the toilet remark. Even putting towels and underwear in the same load of laundry still leaves fecal matter on the towels after washing. It seems to me like using these wipes then washing and reusing without bleaching them, would only spread deadly bacteria. I would think using anywhere BUT the toilet would be safer.
Research on-line. Vinegar doesn’t disinfect like a lot of people think. You are right that you’d need bleach to disinfect. I wouldn’t want to use a toilet wipe on my kitchen counter even after washing it.
I’d love a natural alternative, but disinfecting with vinegar doesn’t work.
