Homemade Shaving Cream Recipe
There’s nothing better than silky smooth legs after a great shave. And this homemade shaving cream recipe is easy to make and perfect for your shower routine. This recipe is similar to a body butter recipe, therefore it will certainly moisturize your legs post shave. You’re four ingredients away to amazing legs!
Here are the Ingredients for the Shaving Cream Recipe below:
- 2/3 cup coconut oil
- 2/3 cup cocoa butter
- 1/4 cup jojoba oil
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 30 drops essential oil of your choice (optional)
Grab your oils, cocoa butter, baking soda and essential oils (if desired) and let’s get started!
But first, a word about cocoa butter. The cocoa butter I purchased was in a block form. You can use a cheese grater to grate and measure it, or you can use a knife (as I did) to coarsely shave it from the block.
Microwave your cocoa butter and coconut oil until melted. Pour in jojoba oil and refrigerate until solid. Once solid, remove from the refrigerator, let set and then use a mixer to whip the oils. Add your essential oil and place into a sealed container!
When you use this shaving cream in the shower or bath, it won’t foam like the store bought shaving cream you’re used to. It will cover very well and not wash off easily. The oils in this mixture cause the water to bead up on your legs, allowing you time to shave. This also gives your skin great moisture post-shave. On most days you could probably skip your moisturizer. Just be careful because the oils in this mix can make the bottom of your shower or tub a bit slippery. Be sure to warn family members sharing the bathroom with you.
