If you have an issue with mold, but don’t like to use a strong chemical like bleach when cleaning, there is another alternative. Rubbing alcohol will kill the mold and mildew but will not clean the stains like bleach will, so be sure to clean the area well first.
1) Remove any surface mildew with a scraper or paper towel.
2) Scrub the surfaces with hot soapy water. Use a scrub brush or brillo pad to scrub it well.
3) Rinse the surface well. Mold and mildew can grow on soap so be sure to rinse it all off.
4) Use half water half rubbing alcohol and apply it to the area. Let it air dry.
Keep in mind that mold and mildew will keep coming back if the overall issue is not taken care of. So be sure to take steps to ensure it doesn’t return. Fix the leak or add a dehumidifier.
do you mean add a dehumidifier?
Yes, and thank you for catching that. I updated the post.
Would this work on wood studs?
