One of my new years resolutions this year is to slow down and enjoy the little moments more. I love to choose a word for the year and in the past I have chosen words like “Joy” or “Intentional” or “Consistency” this year my word for the year is “Less” – I want to do less of what makes me stressed so I can focus on the most important things in life. So instead of always feeling like I need to go somewhere or do something, or that everything has to be perfect. I want to step back and do less so I can enjoy more!
The last few weeks have been COLD outside and one of my favorite things to do on a cold winter night is to curl up under a blanket in front of the fireplace and watch movies. I thought it would be fun to set up a hot chocolate bar for the kids and let them create their own creations!
The trick here is that this doesn’t have to be complicated! I picked up some Swiss Miss® Hot Chocolate & Reddi-Wip® at Walmart with my normal online grocery pick up order which makes it easy to order my groceries online without ever having to go in the store. Then I pulled out a bunch of toppings/ingredients I already had on hand. It may look fancy, but there is little to no stress involved in this and we made so many fun memories!
Hailey and I came up with a fun Salted Caramel Mocha for me, and she made her own Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate (Coffee-Free) Version! I thought it would be fun to pass along the recipe so you can give this one a try the next time you’re looking for a warm treat on a cold winter night!

Salted Caramel Mocha made with Hot Chocolate
Step 1) Add in one Swiss Miss® Hot Chocolate Package into your coffee cup! We used the Milk Chocolate Swiss Miss® and it was perfection!
Step 2) Add in 8 ounces of Coffee or Hot Water. I actually just used my normal coffee maker and brewed the coffee right into the cup with the Hot Chocolate mix in there. It was SO EASY!
Step 3) Add in one heaping teaspoon of Caramel Sauce into the hot chocolate/coffee mixture and stir. This will melt the caramel into your drink and give it a delicious flavor!
Step 4) Add about 1/8 tsp. of salt to your hot chocolate. We just eyeballed this one about 3 twists of the salt grinder. I did use freshly ground sea salt but any salt should work!
Step 5) Top with Reddi-Wip® and stir! Did you know that Reddi-Wip® is made with real cream, this is the secret to a “Perfect” hot chocolate if you ask me, the Reddi-wip® melts perfectly into your hot chocolate and gives it a creamy flavor that I love. I always add Reddi-Wip®, Stir it in, then top with more :)
Step 6) Top with chocolate sprinkles, chocolate chips or even a peppermint stick! It’s really up to you, I just grabbed whatever we had on hand in the pantry but you can get as creative as you would like with the toppings! Letting the kids have some fun creating their own drinks was the best part!
Next time you’re looking for a quick and easy way to create some family memories this winter grab some Swiss Miss® Hot Chocolate and Reddi-Wip® and create your own hot chocolate treats!
