Extreme Couponing Strategy #9 – Buy More Save More Sales
One of my favorite Extreme Couponing Strategies is shopping Buy More Save More Events! Kroger Stores are known for these, but I have found that most grocery stores have these weather they are 10/$10 Events or Buy 10 Save $5 Events, they come in all shapes and sizes but the principle is the same. Buy a specific number of items and get an Instant Discount!
The best part of Buy More Save More Sales is that you get to stack coupons, doubles and other promotions with your Buy More Save More Savings because the instant discount acts like an in store sale!
Shopping the Buy More Save More Events –
Watch your Local Sales Flyers for advertisements that say Buy 5 Items and Save $5 or Buy 10 Items and Save $5. Typically you need to purchase items in that specific quantity to maximize your savings. Read the fine print because some stores will limit this to once per day, other stores don’t have a limit as long as you purchase in quantities of 5 or 10.
Typically the ads will show you the per item discount. In this example the $3.69 price is the sale price or retail price. The $1 discount is ONLY When you buy 5 items from the sale.
The Good News is You Can Mix and Match Items from the same sale. So you don’t have to purchase 5 Ice Cream, you could grab 2 Ice Cream, 2 Capri Sun and 1 Miracle Whip. The advantage to being able to mix and match is that you can utilize your coupons the best. If you have 2 $1/2 Coupons and a $1/1 Coupon you can pick up items in the same quantities.
Double Coupons apply to Buy More Save More Events per your store’s coupon policy, so if you typically can double coupons this is another savings you can stack! There are often Super Hot Deals and even Free Items you can pick up when you pair Double Coupons with Buy More Save More Events.
National Catalina Deals also stack with Buy More Save More Events. Sometimes these aren’t advertised in stores, you’ll need to check the coupon network website to find national Catalina offers, but if your store has Catalina Printers this is often another great savings you can stack!
Non Grocery Store Buy More Save More Events –
You are probably more used to Buy More Save More Events at Retail Stores, typically we see offers like Buy 2 Save 10% or Buy 3 and save 20% deals at Retail Stores. These can also be great offers but the same word of caution applies to both situations. Remember to only buy what you need. What I love about the grocery events is they typically include several items and you can mix and match so you get the savings you want and the flexibility to buy items you need and can use. Retail stores tend to limit you to 1-2 products which you might not need in bigger quantities so always remember to use common sense and only buy what you need or can use.
Don’t Forget: You can Download the Stockpiling Price Sheet to see all of the estimated prices you could expect to pay for the basic items we buy each month. There is also a place to compare unit pricing. This is just a guide, but a great way to help you learn the prices of each item.
Tomorrow we will be talking about another strategy for getting the most out of your coupons!
