GAME DAY! It’s one of my favorite times of the year, there’s nothing better than loading up the car with snacks and treats and heading out to cheer on your favorite team!
I don’t know about you, but my weeks lately have been packed full of activities! We have everything from football practices to dance and basketball going on right now. I am soaking up every moment of this season in life with my kids, but I am also stretched thin for time so when it came to planning the perfect tailgate I wanted to keep things as simple as possible!
My Dollar General Tailgating Haul!
It was late the other night when I started planning my game day party and so I headed out to to grab a few items from Dollar General after my kids went to bed! Honestly, I wasn’t expecting to find much but I hit the jackpot on football and game day themed items for only $1-$3 each so I was excited that I could grab everything I needed in one trip.
I also grabbed a box of Omeprazole Orally Disintegrating Tablets (ODT) while I was there because I don’t have time to be slowed down by heartburn and I have had times where I the food at a tailgate gave me heartburn and I wasn’t able to enjoy the game as much as I would have liked. Now I use Omeprazole ODT to help keep frequent heartburn under control especially when I know I’ll be in situations that typically cause heartburn. You can pick up Omeprazole ODT at a retailer near you under each store’s own brand label.
Did you know that according to the Kelton/Perrigo Company plc, “Prevent the Summer Burn” Survey in March of 2018 close to three quarters (74 percent) of people are willing to make significant sacrifices to be heartburn free? That’s a lot of people missing out on their favorite tailgating food and cheering on their team because of heartburn!
If you haven’t tried Omeprazole ODT before it’s perfect for a busy lifestyle! The Strawberry-flavored tablet dissolves on your tongue and you don’t even need to take it with water. It’s convenient to take with you on the go and the store brand is more affordable than the national brand!
*Use as directed for 14 days to treat frequent heartburn (occurring 2 or more days a week). May take 1-4 days for full effect. Not intended for immediate relief. You should not take Omeprazole Orally Disintegrating Tablets for more than 14 days or more frequently than every four months unless directed by your doctor.
Planning a Quick and Easy Tailgate!
I know I can’t be the only person who’s always pressed for time so I wanted to share some of my easy and affordable finds and tips for tailgating that I picked up this week. I knew I wasn’t going to have a lot of time to prepare so I wanted to keep things simple and easy to assemble. I was able to put together everything in under 2 hours, so if you’re in a hurry but still wanting to plan an amazing party I’m sharing all my favorite ideas.
Make Your Own Popcorn Bar
I was looking for something Super Easy and still fun for everyone including the kids so I opted for a make your own popcorn bar! Popcorn is really easy and inexpensive and by throwing in all these amazing toppings the kids (and adults) can create their own popcorn creations!
I grabbed these inexpensive gift sacks and added a little bit of curling ribbon for a festive touch in our team colors. I also spotted these football shaped dishes and football storage containers for only $1 and I knew they would add the perfect touch to our popcorn bar.
Bring Your Storage With You
One of the things I’ve noticed over the years is that being organized BEFORE you get to your tailgate helps, but you also need places to store and set things while you’re at the game. I saw this genius hack on Pinterest to use a set of stacking storage drawers to store items like plates, cups, napkins and silverware. I love this one so much because it made it really easy to load everything in my car and then still gave us easy access to everything we needed!
Make Your Treats Semi-Homemade
Let’s face it, I would love to bake all the homemade goodies and cut everything into fancy game day shapes, but reality is that I just don’t have the time right now and while I want to have some adorable snacks for the kids I like to keep things as practical and easy as possible.
I found these Brownie Cookies that were Pre-Made and grabbed some ready made icing in white and turned them into adorable little football cookies. This took me about 7 minutes to make 18 cookies and they only took about 15 minutes to dry before I could stack them up on the plate.
I also spotted some snack cakes that I knew would make adorable footballs so I used the same icing and plated the snack cakes on a tray. I think they turned out adorable and they really were so easy to make!
Keep it Simple!
I know there is a lot of pressure these days to have the best food, the best meal and to go all out. But the truth is that we really shouldn’t stress over having the perfect buffet, when you are short on time go for foods you know you can easily prepare.
I opted for Pigs in a Blanket and Chicken Taquitos. Both were easy to throw in the oven, perfect for game day and something both the Kids and Adults could agree on!
One more quick tip, I grabbed these small containers with lids and filled them up with salsa and other toppings so they were easy for the kids to grab and we didn’t have a big mess!
Add the Final Touches!
One of my favorite ways to decorate for a party is to add in special themed printable banner. We printed off this tailgating banner and assembled it with some twine and tied it to the back of the car. You can click here to download the free printable banner! I think it’s the perfect finishing touch to a quick and easy tailgate!
