Today it’s cold and I was tired. I just wanted to stay inside, drink my coffee and read a good book. Naturally, I did just that. I curled up in my cozy blanket and comfy clothes and read for a few hours. That’s pure bliss! Last year for Christmas my mom gave me a Barnes & Noble Membership so I got my new book 40% off, so didn’t feel guilty paying full price for it! I bought it online 3 days ago and it was on my doorstep 2 days later and I didn’t even pay for shipping! I love shopping from home. Who knew we would be able to do that so easily and for FREE 15 years ago! I was still in college using AOL Instant Messenger! I wonder if my friends even remember what that is? Haha, I guess I’m getting old!
This time of year is a little stressful because of all the gifts I want to buy, and sometimes I just feel like I spend too much, but I love to give! Last week I wanted to knock out a bunch off my list and not spend a fortune, so I went to Barnes & Noble because I get several extra savings benefits with my membership card. It’s been amazing! On top of the great holiday sales I save an extra 10% on nearly everything in the store. For me that’s like paying no sales tax!
I picked up games for all my nieces and nephews and grabbed my Brother-in-law’s favorite chocolate, Godiva. I didn’t think that would be included with the savings, but it was because of my Barnes & Noble Membership! I also grabbed my Mother-in-Law a cookbook. She loves cooking and we’ve been talking about how we still like to have a cookbook to look at rather than using online sources. I hope she likes the Pioneer Woman Cookbook, I think it’s amazing! Now, if I could just cook like she does we’d be all set!
I literally saved $15.03 on 8 gifts (6 games for my nieces and nephews, the cookbook and chocolate). I also love to shop for birthday gifts at Barnes & Noble because they have unique games and toys for my kids’ friends and oh yeah, I get 10% off those too. I almost feel like it’s my birthday too when I save money!
I guess if someone finds my diary, they’ll know how much I love Barnes & Noble. It’s really not a secret, I’ve been telling everyone how great their membership card is.

My FAVORITE Benefit of the Barnes & Noble Membership is the FREE EXPRESS SHIPPING! Plus, there is no minimum and normally arrives in 1-3 days! Thank goodness for my membership when I don’t plan ahead. I don’t feel like I waste money on high shipping charges since I get FREE Express Shipping with my membership!
When you become a Barnes & Noble Member, you receive over $60 in Bonus Coupons by email! Membership costs $25 per year. The membership renews automatically each year unless cash is used to pay for the initial membership. When I mentioned gifting the membership, paying cash for it would be the best thing to do in order to not have it automatically renew and charge the card you used for the initial membership setup. However, like my Mom, she used a credit card to pay for my membership and she’s going to just give me the membership every year for a Christmas Gift, so it won’t matter for her. You can also call or go online to your BN.com account to opt out of automatic renewal even if you use a card to set up your initial membership.
