I love making my own cleaning products. Not only are they usually all natural and chemical free (safer around the kids), but they generally are much cheaper to make than those you can buy in the store.
Homemade Furniture Polish is a very easy one to make with just a couple products that you probably already have in your house. You can make up a small batch each time you clean, or make a little larger batch and store it in an air tight container for up to a couple weeks.
One way to make Homemade Furniture Polish is to combine equal parts of white vinegar and lemon juice into a spray bottle. Using a clean cloth, spray a small amount of the polish on the cloth and rub it into your furniture. Wipe dry with another clean cloth.
You can also make homemade furniture polish using olive oil. Mixing about 1 cup of olive oil and 1/2 cup of lemon juice together in a small bowl, dab a clean cloth into the mixture and rub it into your furniture. You can also mix the ingredients together in a spray bottle. Shake well to ensure the two ingredients are mixed together before spraying onto your furniture. Wipe dry with another clean cloth.
With both versions, a little goes a long way. You can also add some essential oils of your choice to either recipe to add a nice aroma to the cleaner.
There are some great benefits of making your own furniture polish. It can be very inexpensive. You do not need expensive olive oil to make a great working furniture polish. The cheaper brands work just as well. Plus both of these recipes are all natural and environmentally friendly.
Have you ever made homemade furniture polish? Is so, which version do you prefer?
