Variations For M&M Easter Magic Bars
Want to add different flavors to your Easter magic bars? Let me share some other ingredients you can sprinkle on top to swap or add to layers of flavor. These bars are very versatile.
- White chocolate chips
- Chopped nuts like pecans, almonds or peanuts
- Peanut butter chips
- Coconut flakes ( I would use unsweetened)
As you can see you have many options to create layers of flavor. Just think if the flavors will mix well when you combine them on the bars.
Do M&M Easter Cookie Bars Freeze Well
M&M Easter cookie bars do freeze well. If you don’t plan on eating them all right away, just place in a freezer bag and remove all the air or airtight container. Toss in the freezer for one to two months. Then to thaw just sit on the counter and let it come to room temperature.
If you pop in the microwave it will melt the chocolate on top.
How Do You Make Easter Cookie Bars
Start by working on your base of cookies. Graham crackers are going to be the crust, so you want to take your crumbs and mix with the melted butter. Or if you have a food processor make your own crumbs out of graham crackers.
Next, you work on your layers of condensed milk, candies, and oats. Then top with your M&M’s and bake until the bars are ready, and let cool slightly. Then slice and serve.

Colorful, bright, festive, and downright addictive. I bet you can’t take just one bite, without wanting more! Give them a try and let me know how you like them. My kids and husband went crazy over these bars.
Family did not care for these. 😕 too sweet. Too rich.
The graham cracker bottom on these is not a good combination. The graham cracker crumbs are mixed only with butter. I hoped my skepticism would be proven wrong, but this layer needs sugar in order to caramelize and stick together. I hoped that I was wrong because of the sweetened condensed milk on top of the crumbs, but they do not come together while baking and the crumb bottom just falls off and crumbles everywhere while cutting and eating the bars, not to mention it tastes bland on the bottom, not like a typical graham cracker crust that has sugar/brown sugar. If I attempt these again, I will definitely add a 1/4 cup or so of brown sugar. The rest of the bar tasted really great, but this bottom layer was such a disappointment in flavor and since half of it would fall off it was a waste.
Can I just grease the bottom of the glass baking dish if I don’t have any parchment paper?
Hi, I wanted to make these and I see on the recipe the choc chips come before the oats but when you give instructions you say layer the oats then choc chips etc. Does it matter what order? I have a similar recipe and some of the layers are put in to help hold all the goodies together. So should oats be on top of the condensed milk or between the choc chips and butterscotch chips. Thank you! Can’t wait to try it. I’m using reg M&Ms and making it as a birthday treat!
Hi! How long do these need to cool once they come out of the oven? Thanks!
How long do you let them cool before cutting them into bars
Is it ok to use a metal or glass baking dish?
Can you substitute rolled oats for quick oats?
Do you have the nutrition information for these?
Made these & they are very good and so simple to make. The only thing I added was pecans and they were excellent!
I just spent $20 on ingredients to make this gluten free. I failed to know that wax paper is not the same as parchment paper and isn’t meant for the oven 😭 Is there any hope in saving these?
Hi Alexis, oh no! Yes, you need to use parchment paper not wax paper in the oven. At high temps in the oven the wax can melt and possibly transfer onto the baked goods. Another option is a silicone baking mat if you don’t have the parchment paper.
Going to make these for the family Easter dinner.
You should address what size can of sweetened condensed milk, as I didn’t know and disappointedly messed up the recipe. thanks
Hi Angela, it’s a 14 oz can. Thanks for the note, it’s now added into the recipe! :)
