This book teaches generosity and unselfishness. The tree begins as a way to shade a little boy while he plays and provide apples for him to eat. Making him happy makes the tree happy. As he grows, the tree becomes more generous. When the boy asks for money, the tree suggests he sell her apples. She offers her branches when he wants to build a house. The tree’s offerings continue until the boy becomes an old man. I love that the book teaches generosity yet leaves so much up to your own interpretation. This is one book that is a must-have in our kids’ book collection.
