One of the things that my husband and I love to do is entertain, and Big Football Games are always a great excuses to host a party. I’m always on the lookout for Simple Recipes that can be tailored to just about any event. One of my favorites is this Traditional OREO Cookie Balls Recipe! This is the perfect recipe to customize for just about any event from Baby Showers to Graduations and yes, even football games!
I thought it would be fun to make Team Color OREO Cookie Balls for the big Game and so I headed to Walmart to grab these Oreo Cookies from the cookie aisle, there are tons of different Flavors to choose from. Since I was going to be adding food color to the OREO Cookie Balls I decided to go with the Golden OREOs + This is my favorite variety so it worked out perfectly.
I actually made these OREO Cookie Balls in just about 30 minutes, I had a little bit of time before I had to pick my kids up from school and you can make these quickly which is an added bonus!
OREO Cookie Balls Recipe
Just start by crushing the OREOs in a Food Processor, this literally took me seconds. I used all 36 OREOs from a regular size bag.
Next you add in the Cream Cheese. Use 1 8 oz. Package of Cream Cheese and blend. I also added in the food coloring at this point to make the filling the color I wanted. You could make any color you want! I went with this Lime Green for the inside of my Cookie Balls, then I also made some Red so that I could have both teams represented!
Once you have the mixture ready for the inside of the Cookie Balls roll the mixture into about 1″ Size Balls and place in the Freezer for about 10-15 minutes.
While the OREO Cookie Balls are in the freezer make sure you start melting your chocolate. I colored my chocolate with an alternating team color. And then in once instance I left the chocolate white and used a Wilton Food Spray Paint to color the cookie balls a silver color!
That’s it! You can place the cookie balls back into the fridge and they will be ready to go when the big game rolls around! I love that I can make these the night before and get my kitchen cleaned up so that I’m not stressing out to cook and clean right before guests arrive!
It was a lot of fun coming up with different colors and since we don’t have a favorite team I made OREO Cookie Balls in both teams colors!
This recipe would also be perfect for High School Football Games, Your Favorite College Teams and Tailgating! Just customize the colors for your favorite teams!
