Six Sandpaper Hacks That You Never Heard Of
Sandpaper is one of those items that everyone needs to have on hand. Even if you are not planning on sanding something down, this stuff will come in handy. The key is to realize that sandpaper has a million uses other than simply sanding. Here are six really cool sandpaper hacks that you can begin using right away. You will be surprised at how well they actually work and they might even spur you to come up with other cool ideas too!
To Open Tight Lids
Who hasn’t struggled with a tight mayo jar or a lid that simply won’t let go? Sandpaper is the ultimate solution to rescue your hands from all that struggling. Simply take a bit of sandpaper and twist with ease. You will be shocked at what a little traction will do for your twisting ability.
For Heel Therapy
Your heels are susceptible to drying, flaking skin that will not ever seem to come off completely. You have probably tried a million products to varying degrees of success. Have you tried a light grade of sandpaper to remove that dry skin? Like any exfoliate, you need to be careful how vigorously you do this. Light sanding will do the job better than pretty much any product I know of.
As a Cat Deterrent
If your cat is going places they should not be, a bit of well placed sandpaper can shift their focus permanently. If your cat is jumping on the counter, for example, place some sandpaper where his favorite jumping spot is. The moment their paws hit that surface, they will never do it again.
To Eliminate Slug Problems in the Garden
Slug problems are frustrating to say the least. In fact, they can be incredibly annoying if you have a serious problem. The best way to deal with them is via barriers. Simply place a one inch line of sandpaper around the perimeter of the area that is giving you problems. The slugs will not cross that surface and your plants will be just fine.
To Keep Cutting Boards Clean…and Safe!
Sanding your cutting boards is a huge deal because it can eliminate the nooks, cuts, crannies and scratches that inevitably accumulate over the years. If you do not sand them down now and then, those areas can harbor all kinds of dangerous things. Get that surface smooth with a good sanding!
To Sharpen Scissors
If you need a quick sharpen on some scissors, sand paper is the perfect solution. Simply cut up some sandpaper sheets and you will be shocked at how quickly they sharpen right up. Be careful, however because this really works well. You can easily cut your fingers.
