Stores Closed Thanksgiving Day 2021
If you enjoy hanging out with family, enjoying your Thanksgiving® meal together, but then heading out to the stores to grab the best deals you will want to take note of this! The number of stores that are announcing changes to holiday shopping is growing each day. The latest announcements from Target and Walmart are the first of a growing list of retailers that will be closed on Thanksgiving. Here is the list that has been announced so far and will continue to update it.
Target Stores Closed Thanksgiving Day
Target has already announced their stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day! They actually posted on their site in January “In fact, guests loved our new approach so much that we’ve already decided to carry one change forward (and we’re telling you here first): Our Target stores will be closed all day on Thanksgiving® Day 2021.” It seems like this change is here to stay.
Most major retailers started their holiday sales earlier last year and we are expecting that again this year! Target also expanded their same-day pickup and delivery service which is really helpful! We will continue to bring you all the Black Friday Deals throughout this holiday season!
Academy Stores Closed Thanksgiving Day
Academy has released their holiday store hours. They will be closed on Thanksgiving Day but will be open on Black Friday 5:00 am – 11:00 pm! Check out all the holiday hours here!
Best Buy Stores Closed Thanksgiving Day
The images of people camping out at their local Best Buy waiting for Thanksgiving Day deals will not happen this year. The decision has been made for Best Buy to be closed on Thanksgiving Day. The release states that they will be offering some of the hottest deals of the season earlier than in the year’s past. They will be pushing consumers to BestBuy.com and then either use curbside pick-up or home delivery.
Dick’s Sporting Goods Stores Closed Thanksgiving Day
Following the lead of other stores, Dick’s Sporting Goods has announced they will close their stores on Thanksgiving Day. There was not a lot of information available but we do expect sales to start earlier than years past.
Kohl’s Stores Closed Thanksgiving Day
The holiday season will look different at Kohl’s Stores this year! In a statement, Kohl’s says, ” Kohl’s announced that all of its stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25, 2021. The decision comes after positive response from last year’s closure on Thanksgiving Day, as well as evolving preferences in how and when customers want to shop during the holiday season. ” I fully expect to see sales at Kohl’s to start earlier and to run through the holiday season!
Walmart Stores Closed Thanksgiving Day
Walmart has also announced that Walmart and Sam’s Club will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. It seems like every year the Black Friday sales start earlier and Walmart has started in-store sales on Thanksgiving. That has allowed the retail giant the opportunity to attract shoppers with awesome sales before the traditional Black Friday sales.

It will be interesting to see if these changes are here to stay. These major retailers continue to say the feedback last year was really positive.
