We love seeing this! People started asking companies to open early so our senior adults could shop before everyone else. That would allow them in the store when it was the cleanest and the shelves had been stocked! So we wanted to bring you all the Stores Opening Early For Seniors that we have seen!
Stores Opening Early For Seniors
Dollar General was the first to announce they will dedicate the first hour of each shopping day to senior shoppers! This will allow the most vulnerable to the COVID-19 coronavirus to shop when the store has been cleaned and restocked. Make sure you pass this information on to all the senior adults that you know and help spread the word!
Beginning tomorrow, Dollar General is strongly encouraging that the first hour of operations each day be dedicated solely for the shopping needs of senior customers, who are one of the groups most vulnerable to the COVID-19 coronavirus. In keeping with the Company’s mission of Serving Others, Dollar General wants to provide these at-risk customers with the ability to purchase the items they need and want at the beginning of each day to avoid busier and more crowded shopping periods.
Target Opening Early For Seniors
Target has announced they will reserve the first hour of shopping every Wednesday to seniors and others with underlying health conditions. Target encourages the guest to plan their shopping trips around this timeframe. They have also changed their closing time to 9 p.m. local time. That will give them more time to clean and restock shelves.
The Fresh Market
The Fresh Market has announced they will designate a special shopping hour for seniors and other individuals most at risk. The hours are 8 am – 9 am Monday through Friday! Their stores will continue to have normal business hours.
Walmart Special Shopping Time
Senior adults (people over 60) can shop early at Walmart! They have announced that starting March 24 through April 28 these shoppers can start one hour before the store opens on Tuesdays! The Pharmacies and Vision Centers will also be open during this time. Walmart has also changed its operating hours. They will now be open from 7 am to 8:30 pm.
Whole Foods
Whole Foods has announced that until further notice, they will allow customers 60 and older to shop one hour before the store opens to the general public. They also stated that their stores will close up to two hours early to give them time to restock and sanitize. Check your local Whole Food for their hours of operations.
We will keep updating this list as we see others opening early. Have you heard of stores opening early for seniors?
