Is it just me, or did this year go by faster than years past? I feel like every year I goes a little bit faster and I am a little shocked and excited all at the same time that we are already starting to see Black Friday Deals online! November and December are some of the Busiest times of the entire year here on the blog and I expect to see Black Friday Ads starting next week so I wanted to give you 7 Things you should do BEFORE Black Friday to help you save money!
1.) Download the Passion For Savings App
Last year we introduced the New Passion For Savings App, this app lets you access all the deals on the go, see Black Friday Ad Previews and get alerts when Black Friday Sales go live online! It’s Instant access to the hottest deals before they sell out and if you haven’t downloaded the app this is your chance! The app is completely free and it’s available for both Android and iOS devices.

2.) Join the Facebook Group for Black Friday Deals
Over 60,000 people have joined our Private Facebook Group for Black Friday Deals, this is where we post deals that we think might sell out fast, it’s also a great way to stay updated all day long on the best sales and savings this Christmas Season. This community is great because everyone works together to help each other save, I also typically post heads ups in this group when I see Amazon Lightning Deals that I know you guys will love. You need to Request to Join this Group and I’ll have to go in and approve you, Click Here to Request to Join the Facebook Group Today!
3.) Make Your Christmas Shopping List
Santa is making his list and checking it twice and you should be too! It’s time to get your Christmas List going including a detailed list of everyone you need to buy a gift for. Then write down 3-4 ideas for each person. This is the perfect time to create this Gift List because you can start watching for sales on items you think each person will love, when you find an item write down what you purchased on the gift list so you don’t forget!

4.) Set a Budget
During the Holiday season finances can be tight so it’s important to plan and save for everything ahead of time. Now is a great idea to start working on your budget. Everything from Christmas Decoration, Party Supplies and Food to Gifts and Wrapping Supplies. Our Holiday Budget Planning Worksheets are a great way to get organized ahead of time.
TIP: Once I have my Gift List completed, I go through and estimate how much I want to spend on each person so that I know what my budget is for each gift and I can start watching for sales and gifts that fit within my budget.
5.) Preview the Black Friday Ads
Typically the Black Friday Ads start coming out 1 month before Thanksgiving, I expect we will see a few the last weekend of October and most of the big ads the First or Second Week of November. I post all of the Black Friday Ad Previews & Scans on our Black Friday Ads page, I’ll also send out alerts in the app when those deals are posted. It’s a great idea to browse through the ads and make a list of any sales you want to try to get ahead of time because most of the Black Friday Deals will be available online before Black Friday and you’ll want to know which sales you want to keep your eyes open for.
6.) Mark Your Calendars
There are a few dates you want to mark on your calendar and plan to Stay Home and Shop with Me in our Black Friday Facebook Group, I’ll be posting as soon as each website goes live. Mark these dates on your calendar:
Sunday Night before Thanksgiving – Kohl’s Black Friday Sales go live
Wednesday Night before Thanksgiving – Most of the Black Friday Sales go Live Online
Thanksgiving Morning – Shop Amazon Lightning Deals
Friday Morning After Thanksgiving – Lots of Online Sales before Noon
Cyber Monday after Thanksgiving – All Day Craziness Online!
Remember, we post Alerts and Updates as fast as we can in the Passion For Savings Facebook Group so make sure you’re a part of this community.
7.) Shop Online
Sit back, relax and enjoy your Thanksgiving! Over the last few years we have seen stores opening earlier and earlier on Thanksgiving Day and I have gotten a lot of complaints from readers about this. What I always encourage people to do is get a game plan together early, because most of the sales go live before Black Friday/Thanksgiving Night (see the schedule above) It’s easy to grab most of what you need online if you’re prepared and you know when to be online, I also make this easy by sending you updates in the group and app. I just had a friend tell me yesterday that she didn’t have to go shopping last year for the first time because she was following all the sales and she got everything she needed + some even better deals and she was able to enjoy Thanksgiving Day with her family and still score amazing savings!
The holidays are one of my favorite seasons! If there’s something you’re looking for a deal on please leave a comment and let me know! I’ll do my best to post a sale when I see one because I want to help you have a fun and budget friendly holiday season!
