What Do You Need For This Recipe
Salmon – You can use fresh or frozen salmon. Just make sure to thaw out your salmon first.
Lemon – Lemon really helps enhance the flavor of the salmon and other ingredients.
Spices – Salt, pepper, Cajun spice, and red pepper flakes.
Garlic – Fresh or jarred garlic work for this recipe. Just make sure it is minced or grate it finely.
Whole Grain Mustard – This is going to really bring out tons of flavor. The spice ramps up the flavor.
How to Make
Preheat the oven as directed in the recipe card below. Then prep your pan.
Place your salmon on the sheet pan and then season with salt and pepper.
In a bowl mix the spices and mustard in a bowl. Mix well.
Then you will baste your salmon with the mixture.
Bake in the oven, and then once it is at the end switch to broil.
Can I Change Seasonings
You are welcome to change up the seasoning you put on the salmon. This cooking method will work with any spices, herbs, etc. I do find that the mustard helps to season the salmon but also lock in moisture and prevent overcooking the salmon.
Refrigerate – If you do not eat all your salmon right away, you can refrigerate your leftovers for a couple of days. Use your judgement on when to toss it out. I tend to leave fish in the fridge for around 2 days then toss.
Meal Prep – You can use leftovers for lunch the next day or even salmon. This is great leftover, if you are a fan of seafood like we are.

- 3 lemons, sliced
- 1 large salmon fillet (about 2-3 lbs.)
- Himalayan Sea Salt
- Black pepper
- 4 tbsp. melted butter
- 3 tsp minced garlic
- 2 tbsp. whole-grain mustard
- 2 tsp. Cajun seasoning
- Pinch of crushed red pepper flakes, if desired
- Thinly sliced green onions, for garnish
- Preheat oven to 350° and line a baking sheet with foil. Lay all lemon rounds in an even layer in center of the pan where the salmon will be placed.
- Lie the salmon on top and season with salt and pepper to taste. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, garlic, mustard, Cajun seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Brush all over the top of the salmon.
- Bake 20 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through. The baking time will depend on the size of the slab of salmon.
- Switch the oven to the broil setting and broil for 3-4 minutes, until the butter mixture has thickened.
- Garnish with green onions before serving.
