The Left Right Christmas Game has grown in popularity in recent years as a fun method of exchanging gifts at holiday gatherings! There is no stealing of gifts in this game, so no one feels bad taking something they want and there are no hurt feelings!
There are actually two ways you can play this game: one way where everyone has a gift and the other way where there is only one gift being passed.
Christmas Game
Both ways are a blast and this story is so cute! It’s about a girl who makes a special Christmas wish to Santa. You will love this sweet story and this fun holiday party game!

How To Play Left Right Christmas Game
For the first way to play the game, everyone sits in a circle with the wrapped gift they brought to exchange. The gift doesn’t have to be expensive. Some people choose to bring gag gifts! As the story is read aloud, participants wait to hear the words “left” or “right” in the story. (Of course, we wrote in many occurrences of both words in this story to make it extra fun!)
Whenever everyone hears the word “left” in the story, they pass the gift they are holding to the left. Whenever they hear the word “right”, they pass the gift to the right! Then, after the story is completed, the gift everyone is holding is the one they get to open.
Tip: whenever the reader is reading the story. Be sure to allow time for people to pass their gifts after you read the words “left” or “right” or they might get confused at times or behind in passing!
Second Way To Play Left Right Christmas Game
For the second way to play the game, only one gift is used. Whoever wins the prize gets to take it home. I don’t suggest this way of play when children are involved, though, as those who don’t receive a prize will feel left out! This method is a fun way to give a door prize at a gathering for adults, though!
Fun Christmas Game
Either way, the participants will have such fun passing the gifts around and listening to the story for their directions! I can’t wait for you to try this!! It’s so fun for class parties, office parties, and even small group holiday parties, too!!
