Are you hosting a 4th of July Party this year? There are some great 4th of July Recipes & Craft Ideas that we have been posting the last few weeks, but this might be one of my favorites! Summer months are known for lots of bugs and one when you are celebrating outside like on the 4th of July it’s a good idea to have some Citronella Candles.
I have a post on How to Make Citronella Candles in Mason Jars and I decided that this would be perfect for spicing up for the 4th of July!
I grabbed some Red, White and Blue Glow Sticks at Target one day and I knew they would be Awesome inside these Citronella Candles. These are a fun way to Light Up your Party and keep the bugs away.
Here’s what you’ll need
- Floating Candle Wicks from Amazon
- Mason Jars – Great deal here
- Citronella Essential Oil
- Olive Oil
- Water
You’ll need a few simple things to make these candles, First you’ll need Floating Candle Wicks, you can find these on Amazon Here, these let you turn any jar into a candle!
Next, you’ll also need Citronella Essential Oil, I use Young Living Essential Oils, Learn More Here.
And then you’ll need some kind of oil to burn, The vases are filled with water and the oil floats on top of the water with the wick and essential oils. I used Olive Oil, but you can use any kind of clean burning oil.
To make these glow stick citronella candles just take your glow sticks and bend them to activate the glowing, then place them inside the Mason Jars.
Fill the Mason Jars with Water until they are almost full, then add in a small amount of oil, let this settle so that the oil floats to the top and add in 3-4 drops of Citronella Essential Oil.
Place the floating wicks on top of the oil and water mixture and light! It really only takes a few minutes to assemble these and they are a fun way to light up the night for a 4th of July Party!
