Every day we post some amazing Printable Coupons and I know that while there are some awesome savings associated with printing coupons online there are also some frustrations that are hard to avoid because it seems like every program for printing coupons has it’s own software driver and these are constantly changing as new updates are released.
Help! My Coupons won’t print!
I receive an email at least once a day asking about problems printing coupons so I thought I would do a quick post explaining a few things you can try.
First, You should know, You are not alone! There are a lot of people (Including Me) Who have had and continue to have problems printing coupons but hopefully after trying a few things in this post you will find a solution that works for you.
Second, Everyone has a different problem or solution. One of the things most frustrating about Printing coupons is that what works for one person doesn’t always work for someone else. So try several things and keep trying because as browsers update and change then you might find something working that didn’t used to work. For Example, I couldn’t print from Internet Explorer for a LONG time, then it started working again after the recent update!
Downloading a Coupon Printer
There are only a few main companies that issue coupons online. These companies host individual coupons (Located on brand pages and Facebook pages) As well as they support sites that have multiple coupons listed for you such as PassionForSavings.com. We don’t actually issue any coupons, we just display the coupons via companies like Coupons.com, Redplum and Smartsource.
For each different company you will need to download the specific coupon printer. This should Pop Up when you go to print coupons for the first time.
NOTE: Make sure you enable Pop Ups or turn off your pop up blocker before you start printing coupons to make sure you see the pop up to download the printer driver. These printer drivers are safe, but make sure you Uncheck any boxes that automatically install toolbars, etc. on your computer those are not necessary for printing coupons.
Here are the most popular companies:
Coupons.com – Download the Printer Driver Here
Redplum – Download the Printer Driver Here — Mac Users use this link!
Smartsource – Get Help Here
Hopster – Prompts when printing coupons
Common Kindness – Prompts when printing coupons
***Remember, after downloading the printer driver you may need to restart your computer in order for the changes to take place.
Update & Enable JavaOne of the most common problems with printing coupons centers around a program called Java. A lot of anti-virus programs will block Java and that will cause problems with printing coupons. You will want to make sure you have the Most Up To Date Version of Java installed on your computer. You can Download the Newest Version of Java Here! Just click the download button to get started. It’s a good idea to Un-install old versions first, then re-install new versions. You can get tips on uninstalling Java here.
Turn Pop Ups On
I know that a lot of us dis-like pop ups but the truth is sometimes those pop ups are asking important questions! I get a pop up every time I try to print from Red Plum asking me to Allow Java. If I click the allow button my coupons print just fine, if I don’t have pop ups turned on I never see that message and my coupons don’t print. So it’s a good idea to allow these at least on the main coupon printing websites.
Update Your Browser
Another great idea is to Update your browser. I’m known to just skip the update button on my computer because I don’t want to take the time to wait for the update to download and install, but if you are running an older version of your browser you might want to go ahead and update and make sure you’re running the latest version of your browser. The printer drivers are constantly being updated to match the newest versions of the browsers and Java, so it’s common that one or the other or both are out of date when you run into problems.
Change Browsers
This is my last tip but it’s actually the thing I try first most of the time. If you’re having problems printing coupons after making sure that your printer drivers and java are installed correctly and up to date then try switching browsers. Sometimes when your coupons won’t print in Internet Explorer you might be able to print from Chrome or Firefox. Both are free programs and you can download them and use them to browse the web just like Internet Explorer. If you are having problems with Chrome, try switching to a different browser. I haven’t found one to be better than the other, it seems like everyone has one that works for them and one that doesn’t. Even my husband and I use different browsers most of the time and I have no idea what makes one better, so I typically just recommend you try all three to see which one works the best for you.
Still having problems?
If you have tried everything listed above I would suggest contacting the Coupon Printing Company that you are specifically having problems with and letting them know what you have tried and what issues you are having so that they can work with you to find a solution.
Start Printing Coupons!
If you are ready to print coupons check out these three pages: Coupons.com, Redplum and Smartsource.
I gave up on Common Kindness years ago. They are still living in the dark ages. I’m tired of playing games for 20 minutes, simply to print out one coupon!
I’ve been unable to print via Common Kindness, but have discovered I can print from there on my husband’s computer just fine. The only difference between our PCs is mine is Windows Vista, and his is Windows 7. So the operating system (which most people won’t be able to change) is also a factor. I can print from everywhere else fine though! Just not Common Kindness :/
Any tips for ppl that cant print at home? My work wont allow coupon printing either.
Thank you! I was having such a problem with Red Plum not printing…it has printed for years, and all of a sudden two weeks ago, it quit working! Following these links I will reinstall and hopefully all will be right!
Marina-i have had the same problem with RedPlum…did the reinstall work for you?
