Find a legit company
Without a doubt, finding the right company is the key. In fact, you will probably need more than one of them. Since you will be contracting your services, you will need more than one client and the competition is fierce. There are a ton of folks that want to work as mystery shoppers. Get the items you need to do good work
The right supplies can make the difference between having plenty of work and not. You will need at a minimum a good computer, Internet access, notebooks, a solid recorder for notes and dependable transportation. You also will need to be able to “dress the part” of a typical shopper for a number of products.
Make sure you keep great records
The mystery shopping companies that are legit will be looking for people that keep immaculate records and that can convey that information efficiently. Your ability to relate your entire experience in the store will directly affect whether you get enough work to make it. Like any other job, you will have plenty of assignments if you show yourself to be dependable and good at what you do. This is largely dependent on your note taking and records.
Another big reason for this is because of taxes. Without solid records you can quickly find yourself over your head with the IRS.
Start taking assignments
Now that you have everything that you need, you can enjoy a lucrative career as a mystery shopper. Things will begin slow but you have to be patient. In time, you will have a reputation within the industry. Take assignments and do them to the best of your ability. If you do, you will never have to worry about finding work. It will find you instead.
If you have been involved in Mystery Shopping before I would love for you to share your best tips/tricks in the comments below!
I am a mystery shopper for a company that is not listed. They do pay Ok. I like what I have to do. You have to be a people person, and have the ability to approach people. With mystery shopping, you have to be able to take pictures of items that you are shopping for. Also you have to have a good memory or write things down where you don’t look suspicious. I will look into the list that is mentioned because having more than one company is better. More jobs, more $$$. Remember, you will not get every job you sign up for. If you make a mistake or lie on the survey forms, you will less likely get another job with them.
