If you hate cleaning blinds as much as I do, you are always looking for ways to make that chore just a little easier. Well this may be that way for you.
All you need is a cotton sock and some vinegar. (Almost everyone has an extra sock just lying around with no mate. From now on don’t throw them away! They make great cleaning tools.) Just dip the sock in some vinegar and rub it along both sides of each slat of the blinds to remove the dust. Every 3 slats or so you will want to rinse the dust from the sock and reapply vinegar.
I cannot tell you how much easier this process is for me then other things I’ve tried in the past. The dampness stops the dust from being sent back into the air like a duster would, and the vinegar gives an extra effort of cleaning for those tougher areas.
Use this technique for a deep cleaning every 6 months or less depending on how much dust accumulates in your home.
After you have cleaned and dried the blinds, you can wipe down the slats with a dryer sheet to help prevent future buildup of dust. Similar to your baseboards in the post I did a few weeks back on How to Clean Your Baseboards.
