Plastic Paint Palettes – You can find these for a cheap price at the Dollar Tree, Walmart, or shop at Amazon and ship to your home.

Sprinkles and Toppings – The options for cookie toppings are endless. Colored sugar, Christmas sprinkles, mini candies, etc.

What Type of Frosting Or Icing To Use

Now with sugar cookies you can do a mix. Whether you want a royal icing or a fluffy spreadable or pipeable frosting. The recipes for both are below!

Storing Cookies

You can store your sugar cookies at room temperature if your frosting can be stored at room temperature. You will find if you use a buttercream or say cream cheese frosting, it will need to be refrigerated or the frosting will spoil.

I recommend only making your cookies 1 day in advance, as with any cookie the first 2 days is best in terms of texture.

Freezing Cookies

If you want you can freeze your sugar cookies. Freeze them plain or freeze them after they are frosted. Place in a single layer and then place wax paper between layers if you are stacking your cookies. This will help prevent sticking.
