Summer means some hot days in the sun. Whether you actually got a sun burn or not, your skin needs some extra moisture after being in the hot, drying sun all day. You can make your own after sun lotion that will give your skin what it needs more than just our regular lotion.
How to Make After Sun Lotion:
What you Need:
4 ozs of any plain, unscented lotion
1 tablespoon aloe vera gel
2 drops lavender essential oil
2 drops chamomile essential oil
2 drops peppermint essential oil
A jar with a lid for storage
What you Do:
1) Mix all the ingredients together.
2) Pour mixture into your container. Be sure to label it so everyone in the house knows what is inside.
3) The mixture can be stored as is on a shelf (or pantry or wherever), or for extra cooling you can store it in the fridge until needed. After a day of too much sun, simply use it as you would lotion. Paying closer attention to any area of your skin with sun burn.
I prefer an after sun lotion over straight aloe vera gel especially for the day when I just need some extra moisture on my skin. Gel can leave my skin feeling a little sticky where as the lotion tends to absorb much better into the skin.
So be sure to take care of your skin before AND after being out in the sun. Your skin will thank you for it!
