Everyone is looking for that beach waves hair look lately. You know, the kind where everyone thinks you were just at the beach even though you live in Ohio. :)
You can purchase products to do this for you, but if they are any good, they are pretty costly. Instead, how about making your own. It only takes a few ingredients, many of which you may have around your house already. And it is super easy to throw together once you have all of the ingredients.
How to Make Your Own Beach Waves Spray
What you Need:
1 cup of hot water (should not be boiling)
2 tablespoons Epsom Salts (for extra texture, add a little more)
1/2 tsp Sea Salt
1 teaspoon Aloe Vera Gel
1/2 tsp Conditioner
optional: If you are also looking to lighten your hair, you can add 1 teaspoon lemon juice and 1 teaspoon alcohol (the lemon juice lightens and the alcohol preserves)
What You Do:
Mix all the ingredients together and pour into a spray bottle. You will need to store it in the fridge if you are using lemon juice. But it can be stored at room temperature if you aren’t. Depending on the size of your bottle, and how much you will use, you can double or triple the ingredients.
This mixture should last about 3-4 months.
How to Use:
To use this product, spray onto damp hair and scrunch while drying with a towel to dry for loose beach waves. Depending on how much you put in your hair, the waves could last all day.
For straight hair that needs a lot of help to get wavy, it’s generally better to wash your hair at night and spray on while wet. Then either pull back into french braids or roll up into a tight bun over night. When you take it out in the morning you will have some great waves that will last all day.
If you are looking for volume or texture without all the waves, spray directly onto the roots of your hair after your hair is already dry.
Now you’re ready for the Beach! Or for a nice summer day when you’re headed to the pool!
