I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season! I’ve taken a few weeks off from crafting to spend time with my family and enjoy the holidays. But I’m back today to share with you a simple DIY Valentine’s Day idea. If you’ve wanted to know how to make a Valentine’s wreath, look no further. Today I’ve got an easy tutorial for you to help add some love to your front door!
To make this wimple wreath, you will need a heart wreath form, some red mesh and some Valentine’s ribbon.
You may remember the Mesh Halloween Wreath I made in the fall? Even though this is also a mesh wreath, this is made in a different way and is really quick and easy.
The first thing I did was make sure all the pipe cleaners around my wire form (found at Hobby Lobby) were open and facing up.
Next it’s time to add the mesh. You can use just the mesh ribbon, or if you want to add in some regular ribbon to accent the wreath, you can do that too. All you have to do is gather and pinch the end of your mesh and ribbon. Place it onto the form and attach it securely with one of the pipe cleaners.
Next you move down the mesh and ribbon and gather and pinch a new section. Place it down on the form and secure it with the pipe cleaners. You can make these sections as big or as small as you like.
I started out using the inner part of the wire form. I went all along the inside of the form with both my mesh and my ribbon until I got back to where I started. Then I decided to not use the ribbon and just use mesh as I went along the outside of the form. I cut off the excess ribbon, but just continued with the mesh. Doing the same gather and attach steps as before. Once I got all the way around the outer edge of the wreath form, I just cut off the mesh.
Once I was all done making the Valentine’s wreath, I turned it over and tucked in all the ends of the pipe cleaners so they wouldn’t show from the front. Then I took some extra ribbon and looped it through the back side of the wreath form so I could hang it on my door.
I trimmed the ends of my ribbon so they looked neat and tidy and were at a good length for my door.
I just love the brightness this Valentine’s wreath brings to my door!
This was such a quick project. I think it took me less than an hour to make it and hang it. That is my kind of craft!
Happy Crafting!
